WHAT THE ROLE ENTAILS:


Reporting to the Payroll& Benefits Specialist, the Payroll& Benefits Analyst will ensure that all payments are calculated and processed accurately, on time and according to the legal compliance requirements.


WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:
  • Process expense reports for crew, processed daily through Avanti
  • Prepare, verify, process, balance, and audit semi-monthly payrolls for salaried& casual employees, Flight Crew& Cabin Crew, in accordance with crew agreements, provincial and federal legislation (for federally regulated employees), policies and procedures
  • Enroll new employees in the benefits program
  • Benefits Administration that includes;
  • Work with Finance to resolve finance and payroll issues (i.e., GL account changes)
  • Reconcile monthly benefit premiums and billings
  • Reconcile Canada Pension Plan (CPP) and Employment Insurance (EI) contributions
  • Troubleshooting login concerns
  • Review payroll data and investigate and correct data integrity issues
  • Calculate and process taxable benefits
  • Process monthly payroll adjustments and reconcile earnings and deductions
  • Validate and correct errors in benefit interface files
  • Coordinate with the benefits providers for any issues or concerns
  • Ensure benefits premiums are deducted accurately from employees pay and correct any discrepancies
  • Ensuring beneficiaries are updated and complete
  • Assist with internal and external audit requirements
  • Ensuring employees are enrolled
  • Maintain adequate back up for payroll inputs and adjustments


WHAT YOU BRING TO THE ROLE:


  • Experience working in a daily/hourly pay environment is an asset
  • Critical thinker able to evaluate and interpret data to implement creative solutions
  • Problem solver who regularly seeks opportunities for improvement and implements positive changes
  • Proficient using Microsoft Office applications and payroll systems
  • Ability to manage priorities independently
  • Aviation experience is an asset
  • Experience in working with sensitive data and using best practices for its protection
  • 3+ years relevant experience in processing payroll and administering benefits
  • Payroll Compliance Professional (PCP) Certificate OR Certified Payroll Manager (CPM) Certificate OR working towards either is an asset
  • BSc in Human Resources Management, Accounting or relevant field
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to present information clearly
  • Deep knowledge of provincial and federal payroll and tax regulations
  • Great interpersonal relations skills to answer all payment-related questions
  • Technical proficiency with an HRIS system (Avanti is an asset)
  • Capable of working in ambiguity and identifying optimal approach for finding a resolution
  • Strong analytical skills
