Reports To: President and close collaboration with GUS Canada Vice President, Marketing & Communications

The University of Niagara Falls Canada (UNF), Ontario’s newest university set to open its doors in 2024, will be offering a host of distinctive undergraduate and graduate programs to prepare graduates to be leaders in a digital world. The University of Niagara Falls Canada is a subsidiary of GUS Canada and part of the Global University Systems (GUS) network. GUS is one of the largest education groups in the world; offering accredited bachelor's, master's, medical and law degree programs, vocational and professional qualifications, and language courses to approximately 100,000 students globally. Primary Purpose

The Marketing Director will be responsible for working with Leadership to provide the marketing strategy that will help achieve the University’s goals of achieving its mission and vision through strategic and tactical initiatives with the aim of attracting faculty, staff, and students.


The position is considered a critical role in the University as it is expected to drive brand recognition, engagement, recruitment support, internal and external communications, innovation and execution of the marketing strategy through close collaboration with the different departments across the organization. It is also to be expected that the Marketing Director will make data-driven decisions that will shape how the University is marketed in the Niagara region, across Canada and globally.


Specific Responsibilities

  • Making sure all company materials have consistent and positive messaging and branding.
  • Responding to crises or challenging situations quickly and professionally.
  • Work with various stakeholders on all marketing requests, ensure timely delivery.
  • Recruit and train newly hired members of the team
  • Execution of promotional activities that involve the University’s brand.
  • Lead the marketing team in identifying new market segments based on data analytics and other means available.
  • Manage the marketing team’s deliverables by providing the key performance metrics required to achieve the University’s overall goals.
  • Develop brand voice and maintain brand integrity across all social media platforms
  • Establishes performance goals and measures to evaluate success of assigned area of responsibility.
  • Forecast, draft, implement, and oversee the departments operating budget.
  • Ensure daily monitoring of all social media comments and messages, ensure timely 24 hour response across all channels.
  • Leads the development and implementation of the strategic Marketing & Communications plan, in alignment with the mission and goals of the institution.
  • Manage University’s brand and reputation.
  • Create innovative ways to help penetrate markets that will drive up enrollment in both the domestic and international markets.
  • Ensure that the University remains updated with the latest trends to help management in making strategic and tactical decisions for the organization.
  • Identifies, drives and executes optimal strategies, tactics, and resources for all recruitment-related marketing efforts.
  • Drive awareness of the University in the most cost-efficient way possible through coordinated marketing campaigns.
  • Establish and drive a multi-channel communications strategy.
  • Conducting quality control on all produced marketing materials, assets and communications.
  • Provide a periodic report to Management on results of Marketing campaigns and initiatives
  • Managing University’s marketing team, provide mentorship and professional growth opportunities
  • Establish and drive a multi-channel social media and recruitment support strategies
  • Effectively market UNF and its programs by monitoring, analyzing, and evaluating market trends, consumer behavior, and competitor activity to identify market opportunities for products/services.
  • Responsible for maintaining an inclusive working environment that is free from discrimination and harassment.

Education ad Experience

  • Proven experience with marketing automation and CRM tools (eg. Salesforce).
  • Will require to work occasional early mornings, evenings and weekends.
  • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in marketing, or related field. A master’s degree in marketing or related field is an asset.
  • Minimum 4 years of management experience in advanced education roles or equivalent in a related field is required.
  • Has a diverse experience in the field of marketing.
  • Demonstrated experience in project planning and management, and process improvement with the ability to manage multiple projects with efficiency.
  • Having a established network in the industry is considered an asset.
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in the same field across different industry sectors.
