Job Description

About Stepped Care Solutions

We are a mission-driven company and the creators of SC2.0 - a transformative model that fundamentally reimagines mental health systems. We are dedicated to collaborating with organizations and communities to guide the design and implementation of accessible, flexible, culturally relevant, and high-quality mental health and wellness resources and services. Our team is globally recognized for their leadership in transforming mental health systems, their clinical expertise, and their proficiency in implementation science.

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced mission-oriented Marketing and Communication Director (MCD) to join our dynamic team. The MCD will be responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive marketing and communication strategies that will promote our mission, raise awareness of our organization, and drive engagement. In collaboration with the leadership team, the MCD will oversee internal and external communications.

Responsibilities

  • Create the annual report and assist with creating collateral for key events, such as board meetings, helping SCS leaders effectively showcase our progress in implementing our strategic plan.
  • Collaborate with staff across departments to create engaging content, showcase organizational differentiators, and maintain consistent messaging, highlighting the impact of our work and sharing compelling stories to inspire support and action for our mission.
  • In partnership with the evaluation team, spearhead the development of case studies that highlight how we help organizations transform mental health systems, showcasing SC2.0.
  • Develop and implement an integrated strategic marketing plan that aligns with the SCS strategic plan and mission and supports SCS priorities.
  • Develop and manage the annual marketing and communications budget, ensuring resources are allocated effectively to implement a strategic marketing campaign.
  • Utilize data-driven insights to measure and analyze the effectiveness of marketing efforts, continually refining strategies and tactics to optimize results.
  • Stay informed about trends and best practices in non-profit marketing and communication, mental health advocacy, and related fields to continually improve our marketing efforts.
  • Lead and supervise a small team of internal communications staff and external consultants, fostering effective communication, collaboration, and resource allocation to ensure successful project outcomes and day-to-day operations.
  • Lead the use of a variety of writing styles that resonate with various target audiences, adapting key messages to effectively engage existing and potential new audiences across a variety of media and awareness-building collateral.
  • Regularly report on marketing and communications activities, progress, and outcomes, providing insights and recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Develop guidelines, tools and processes where needed, in partnership with colleagues to enable the development of engaging communications collateral while maintaining a clear and consistent brand voice.
  • Oversee the creation of a consistent and compelling message framework and brand identity across all marketing channels, including social media, website, email marketing, print materials, and public relations efforts.
  • Collaborate with internal teams such as Knowledge Exchange as well as external partners to create and implement high-impact campaigns that raise awareness, inspire action, and engage key constituencies.
  • Proactively engage with media outlets to feature our subject matter experts in major publications, cultivating relationships with journalists, and increasing visibility of our work and helping us to change the mental health narrative.
  • Develop and implement a process for navigating crisis communication that facilitates how the leadership team manages issues to protect the SCS mission and reputation during urgent situations.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Exceptional collaboration, communication, conflict management, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Canva, and WordPress.
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in marketing, with at least 3 years in a leadership role, preferably within a non-profit organization.
  • Detail-oriented, with strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, 100% remote work environment.
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing successful marketing campaigns and strategies.
  • Strong understanding of marketing channels, social media platforms, and public relations techniques.
  • Familiarity with mental health systems preferred.
  • Experience managing people, teams, and projects.

Our unique advantage stems from our deep knowledge and extensive experience in applying the SC2.0 model to complex system transformations. We challenge the usual mental health medical model by helping organizations develop person-centric systems focused on empowerment and decision-making control for service users.

We embrace a holistic and synergistic approach to mental health care, acknowledging the abundance of healing resources that lead to access, equity, and flexibility in mental health systems. We believe in the importance of incorporating informal services and peer support, valuing a diverse range of expertise to create a comprehensive and effective system.

At Stepped Care Solutions, our actions are shaped by three core values that drive us toward our vision of Wellbeing Everywhere:

  1. Mission First - We commit to prioritizing the SCS mission, while embracing challenges and constantly improving our processes. Our team stays updated with best practices, ensuring efficient and effective support for colleagues and clients.
  2. Better Together - We recognize the power of collaboration and value diverse ideas and perspectives. Our team checks in with one another, offers assistance, and provides direct, gracious feedback, appreciating each member’s strengths and contributions.
  3. Context Matters - We understand the importance of considering the bigger picture and contextual backdrop for informed decision-making. Our team adopts a holistic approach, going beyond isolated details, to consider the broad impact of our choices.

Working Conditions

  • Work remotely from anywhere in Canada with the ability to support the core business hours, our team maximizes technology to work collaboratively with others.
  • No two days are alike. We are a passionate group of people who are invested in change, continuous improvement, and transforming mental health systems!
  • Full, competitive benefits, SCS has a flexible work environment with generous vacation time.
  • Future travel may be required.

Workplace Diversity, Inclusion & Equality

SCS is committed to fostering a diverse inclusive culture. Consistent with our stepped care philosophy we believe in the unique contributions that people can bring in terms of their education, opinions, culture, ethnicity, race, sex, gender identity and expression, nation of origin, age, languages spoken, veteran’s status, color, religion, disability, sexual orientation and beliefs.

Accessibility

SCS welcomes and encourages applications from people with disabilities. Accommodations are available on request for candidates taking part in all aspects of the selection process. If you are a person with a disability and require accommodation during the process, please contact Reem Zaghal, [email protected]
