Our client, is an Engineered Solutions North American company with a world class team of packaging experts. They design, program-manage, fabricate, source, retro-fit, repair/service, and breakdown/recycle all types of packaging – metal, plastic, foam, bags, bulk/standard bins, and a variety of custom dunnage. We provide solutions to a variety of industries: automotive, industrial, alternate energy, electronic and aerospace.


Position Summary


The position of Plant Manager includes but is not limited to the coordination and direction of work for day-to-day operations to meet production goals and overseeing the teams to maximize efficiencies and utilization of resources. The Plant Manager will develop systems and processes that track and optimize productivity and standards, metrics, and performance targets to ensure consistent fulfillment of production quotas and quality standards. The Plant Manager has a responsibility to lead his/her team ensuring that cost, schedule, and safety requirements are consistently achieved. This position will also identify and lead continuous improvement initiatives across various production departments and the entirety of the plant.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure smooth setup, organization, and consistent operations across different departments.
  • Identifies and leads the creation of SOPs and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Works with the key supervisors and managers in production, production control, industrial design, finance, quality assurance, maintenance, and other related operations to achieve the desired business objectives.
  • Oversees team to maximize efficiencies and utilization of resources.
  • Communicates operating goals to site personnel and leads in such a way that the plants goals are identifiable and owned by all personnel.
  • Coordinates with the Operations Manager and scheduling department to ensure the execution of manufacturing schedules based on plant capacity.
  • Ensures consistency and adherence to company policies and SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) from staff.
  • Completes required paperwork/input to computer including using Dayforce, turnover / production reports, KPIs, invoice approvals, payroll change forms, disciplinary actions, etc.
  • Coaches, motivates, and develops staff through open communication to ensure job satisfaction, performance and promote teamwork.
  • Other assigned work as required.
  • Manages conflicts, addresses performance concerns, and safety violations.
  • Ensure staff work in compliance with the provisions of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Company policies.
  • Coordinates and directs work across departments to achieve productivity goals.


Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business, management, or operations from an accredited post-secondary institution (preferred)
  • 5+ years of experience as a Plant/Manufacturing Manager (required)
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to direct, coach, and train associates as well as plan, monitor, and schedule work
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft programs (Excel, Outlook, etc.)
  • Able to work well under pressure
  • Previous experience implementing and using continuous improvement/lean tools such as; Six Sigma, 5-S, Lean Manufacturing, Industry 4.0, ISO 9001, etc.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and other technical diagrams
