The Opportunity


This position is responsible for management oversight of Support Service areas within the assigned portfolio. It reports to a Director of Operations, and participates as a member of the Director’s portfolio/site operations team, as well as serves on the Carewest Managers of Support Services committee. Support Service areas monitored through Accommodation Standards include:


  • Personal services – Hairdressing & Barbering
  • Safety services – Building Code Requirements & Contingency Planning
  • Physical environment – Physical Plant Services, Grounds and Horticulture, Waste Management
  • Hospitality services – Food Services, Housekeeping, Laundry & Linen


This position may also take the lead role in other unique services areas that include Gift Shop Operations, Shipping, Receiving & Surplus, Clinical Engineering and Transportation Services as assigned, and is an organization-wide resource in assigned area (s). This position ensures that consistent work practices and standards follow the policies and procedures set out for all support service areas. This position is required to work collaboratively within the interdisciplinary team to ensure that legislation, accreditation, accommodation, and health and safety standards are maintained across the organization. In support of Carewest’s Frame of Reference and Site Operational needs, this position identifies and works towards the resolution of related site and organizational non-clinical issues to drive and exceed organization-wide standards. Responsible for other related duties and projects as required.

Shift Times: 0800-1615

Rate of Pay: According to qualifications and experience


Qualifications & Experience:


  • Previous management/supervisory experience of 2-3 years preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience including implementation of change, excellent oral and written communication, and a proven track record of achieving required outcomes through positive collaboration.
  • Post-Secondary Diploma or undergraduate degree in hospitality management, supply chain, procurement, building operation, business, or other related fields preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications required
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in one or more of service areas with progression demonstrated in complexity and scope of service.
  • Relevant and equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered, including on-job experience and trades certificates
