Job Description
The Opportunity:


Are you a Senior Leader experienced with advancing functional maturity across an organization’s commercial disciplines? Reporting to the Director – Supply Management, the Manager – Commercial Operations Support Services will provide leadership, expertise and support at a cross functional level.


You will be responsible for providing team direction and day-to-day management for our Support Services Leads and Professionals while advancing Commercial Operations functional maturity. To achieve this, your activities will include driving and supporting continuous improvement in people, process and technology within Canadian Natural’s Commercial Operations business areas, including Supply Management, Materials Management, Joint Ventures and related disciplines.


Key Accountabilities:


  • Champion stakeholder engagement and change management by facilitating strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all levels
  • Contribute to the successful growth and development of leaders and professionals within your team while providing direction, goal setting and performance management
  • Live and promote the company’s mission statement by facilitating the development of Canadian Natural’s people, building forward-thinking relationships and developing a path to the company’s corporate goals in an environment built on doing it right, fun and integrity
  • Lead our Commercial Operations Centre of Excellence and Support Services, focused on delivering leading practice, process expertise, governance, reporting/KPIs, training, master data management, business intelligence and technology enablement to the broader Commercial Operations team
  • Develop strategies, practices and tools to enable Commercial Operations teams to anticipate and respond to rapidly changing internal and external environments, while managing risk and maximizing value
  • Collaboratively identify, plan and execute new strategies aligned to our innovation and digital roadmaps to further drive continuous improvement and operational excellence


Skills & Qualifications:


  • Exceptional analytical and problem solving skills that will allow you to consider the details and complexities of issues and opportunities; Adept influencing and change management skills while driving results at an enterprise scale
  • Business Degree with Masters or MBA preferred and continued professional development such as SCMP, PMP or other applicable programs
  • Excellent communication skills with strong change management capabilities and able to influence improvements both directly and indirectly
  • Direct management of teams responsible for assessing, implementing and sustaining end-to-end and best of breed technology solutions in commercial disciplines (i.e. ERPs, Source to Pay systems (i.e. Ivalua, Arriba, OpenInvoice, etc.), Asset Management (i.e. Maximo), Inventory, Warehouse, Logistics (i.e. 3GTMS), Robotic Process Automation, Tableau, PowerBI, etc.)
  • 15+ years’ of related experience, including 7 or more years of formalized leadership experience related to center of excellence operations and/or in direct oversight of key supply management and commercial activities such as contract management, purchasing, expediting, logistics, joint ventures, and materials management
