Title: Chief Flight Instructor (Class 2 or 1) - Helicopter Flight School & Commercial Operations
Location Base: Okotoks Alberta
We are seeking a skilled and versatile Flight Instructor to join our helicopter flight school and commercial operations team. This unique opportunity allows you to split your time between flight training and commercial work, bringing a diverse range of experiences to your aviation career.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct flight training operations for aspiring helicopter pilots, overseeing all aspects of flight instruction.
- Adhere to local aviation regulations, safety standards, and company policies.
- Mentor and guide 1-2 other flight instructors, providing support and sharing your expertise.
- Maintain a safe and positive learning environment, emphasizing safety protocols, risk management, and emergency procedures.
- Perform commercial flight operations during the alternate half of the year, which may include aerial photography, charter services, forestry or utility work.
- Collaborate with the flight school team to continuously improve training methodologies, curriculum, and student experiences.
- Deliver high-quality instruction in various flight maneuvers, procedures, navigation techniques, and aviation theory.
Qualifications:
- Class 2 or 1 Instructor Rating: Hold a valid Class 2 or Class 1 helicopter instructor rating.
- Flight Training Experience: Demonstrated experience as a flight instructor, delivering comprehensive training to helicopter pilot students.
- Small Class Experience: Experience teaching in small class sizes, providing personalized instruction and engaging with individual students.
- Commercial Experience: Familiarity with commercial helicopter operations and an understanding of client expectations.
- Continuous Learning: Commitment to ongoing professional development, staying updated on industry trends, regulations, and teaching techniques.
- Safety Mindset: Strong safety-oriented approach, with a thorough understanding of safety protocols, risk management, and emergency procedures.
- Team Player and Mentorship Skills: Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment and mentor other flight instructors effectively.
