Ontario has established a competitive market for internet gaming (iGaming) that is regulated by the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) to ensure market and game integrity and provide Ontarians with robust consumer and responsible gambling protections.
We have an exciting opportunity for a Manager, Regulatory Compliance - Internet Gaming and we are looking for a high performing individual who thrives in complex and dynamic environments to join our team as we build the future of iGaming regulation in Ontario!
The Manager, Regulatory Compliance - Internet Gaming will lead a diverse and multi-functional team to deliver an innovative and modern compliance assurance program that focuses on responsible gambling, governance and regulatory controls, sports and event betting, and information security of online gaming across the regulated iGaming market. The successful candidate will oversee the compliance performance for a portfolio of regulated market participants and will be responsible for their team’s regulatory compliance activities. They will lead a single-point-of-contact model for the accounts under their management, working collaboratively with numerous peers throughout the agency to promote and ensure compliance.
Reporting to a Senior Manager, Technology Regulation and Compliance, the successful candidate will:
  • Liaise with a diverse group of stakeholders, including senior management of iGaming operators regarding compliance priorities and issues.
  • Develop and operationalize a modern compliance program that is risk-based and outcomes-focused, delivering right-touch regulatory assurance activities based on sector and entity risk profiles and areas of compliance priority.
  • Empower and motivate team members to succeed, employing effective coaching to support each team member’s growth and performance.
  • Be collaborative and creative when working with regulated entities to achieve regulatory compliance.
  • Proactively monitor compliance, identifying and addressing compliance issues as needed, including issuing targeted regulatory action to correct incidents of non-compliance and maintain compliance moving forward.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
  • Expert knowledge and demonstrated experience in:
  • Demonstrated experience in managing and leading teams of professional staff in a fast-paced, technically challenging, and ever-changing environment.
  • A Bachelor’s degree, or an equivalent combination of relevant work experience and education.
  • IT General Controls
  • Risk management and analysis
  • Responsible Gambling concerns, strategies and controls
  • Regulatory compliance principles, tools, and practices for effective implementation of modern regulatory approaches
  • General knowledge of one or more of the following topics:
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills in a variety of complex situations.
  • A commitment to building a culture around diversity, accountability, and trust.
  • Corporate compliance and internal controls
  • Investigative processes
  • Exemplary communication ski lls and a commitment to service excellence in all stakeholder engagements.
  • Knowledge of the iGaming industry, including the nature, structure, and operations of gaming operators and gaming-related suppliers is an asset.
  • Strong judgement with an ability to be direct, clear, and decisive with respect to compliance requirements and issues.
