Bring yourexpertise and leadership skills to play a key role in overseeing the Districts' development and implementation of environmental protection strategies, policies and bylaws! If you have your bachelor's degree in environmental science, sustainability, planning, engineering, or a related field, a minimum of five years of progressive responsibility working in environmental review services and/or policy and are registered, or have the ability to become registered, with the Association of Registered Professional Biologists of British Columbia then this may be the opportunity for you.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
• Thorough knowledge of the relevant federal, provincial, municipal legislation, regulations and bylaws.
• Thorough knowledge of municipal permitting processes related to environmental protection and municipal regulatory jurisdiction.
• Knowledge of relevant regulations, standards, and best practices related to environmental quality control operations and the related trends and developments.
• Sound knowledge of the principles, objectives, methods, and procedures applicable to environmental emergency planning and response.
• Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety and WorkSafeBC requirements and experience in safe construction projects.
• Strong project management skills, with the ability to lead large, complex projects from conception to completion.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills, with the ability to effectively engage with a diverse range of stakeholders.
• Strong financial acumen, with the ability to effectively manage budgets and resources.
• Ability to think strategically, develop and implement long-term plans, and make data-driven decisions.
• Ability to adapt to various situations that require openness, tactfulness and sensitivity.
This is an exempt position and is excluded from Union membership.
