Plains is seeking a Manager, Commercial Scheduling, for an 18-month term. Reporting to the Director, Commercial Logistics, you will oversee team members responsible for product movement on Plains’ crude and NGL pipeline systems. Our ideal candidate possesses proven ability to lead, a strong sense of urgency and accountability, the ability to respond to tight deadline requirements, superb organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize and multi-task. This fast-paced department has an on-call requirement for after hours and weekend availability.

This hybrid position combines work at our Calgary office with working from home.


Responsibilities


  • Manage and schedule volumes from multiple receipt locations and coordinate deliveries with downstream carriers
  • Quantify, analyze, communicate, and escalate (when required) discrepancies between plan, schedule, and actual performance
  • Provide solutions and ideas to maximize profit on existing deals and explore hidden value / options
  • Develop and sustain strong customer relationships with shippers, producers, and other pipeline companies
  • Provide strong leadership, coaching, and mentoring for direct reports
  • Assist, train, and mentor schedulers
  • Communicate scheduling issues when they occur; escalate as required
  • Liaise with third-party counterparties and team members to resolve and eliminate issues impacting schedules, supply, and settlements
  • Proactively assist traders and provide commercial feedback / add value


Qualifications


  • Strong communication skills with a proven ability to express oneself clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing
  • Positive and professional attitude with the ability to work well with and lead a team
  • Demonstrated knowledge of tariffs and regulatory obligations
  • Detail oriented and accurate with very strong analytical abilities and problem-solving skills
  • Cleared criminal history (background) and satisfactory reference checks
  • Ability to understand the company’s competitive landscape and communicate knowledgably with customers
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative by undertaking tasks independently
  • Extensive knowledge of Gulf Coast scheduling preferred
  • 6+ years’ related scheduling experience, commercial and / or refinery preferred
  • RightAngle ETRM experience considered an asset
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, economics, or accounting
  • Proficient Microsoft Office Suite skills with advanced Excel skills
