Job Description

The Environment Agency works to create better places for people, wildlife, and supports sustainable development.

This is an exciting opportunity for those interested in entering a career that can make a real difference to the local environment.

It’ll be up to you to provide administrative support to managers in our Area Leadership Team and Workforce Planning Team (this team support recruitment activity in our area).

Your work will include updating online systems, managing busy inboxes and organising multiple crowded diaries, arranging meetings, preparing agendas and taking action notes at meetings – virtually and face to face.

You will be the point of contact for the managers you support, sharing information with different teams across the area and wider business.

Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do. You will be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident. This may attract an additional payment and full training and alternative working arrangements will be available to support you with your incident role.

This is a permanent position which could be a full time role, although we will consider applications from individuals looking for a minimum of 20 hours per week.

The team is based at our Brampton (Huntingdon) and Ipswich Offices. We currently work on a hybrid basis, from home or office, depending on business need and preference.

For more info on working with us see https://environmentagencycareers.co.uk/

You’ll be joining the Customers and Engagement team who provide support to colleagues across East Anglia – you’ll be part of this team and become integral to your managers’ teams.

The C&E team's home to leadership support, as well as customer enquiries and engagement. You’ll work alongside fellow administrators and other colleagues responding to a wide variety of customer enquiries. We're always looking for opportunities to proactively engage customers and partners in what we do.

Experience/skills Required

We are looking for a real people person with exceptional organisational skills, someone proactive who’s comfortable picking up the phone.

You’ll have a proven ability to work unsupervised, work well within teams, manage your own workload and meet tight deadlines.

Essential:

  • Excellent diary management and organisational skills.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills and the ability to present information in a clear, comprehensible style and format.
  • IT literacy, including but not limited to, proficiency in IT Applications including MS Teams, Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and Powerpoint.

It would be helpful, but not essential, if you had:

  • Experience dealing with confidential and sensitive information and issues.
  • Ability to take minutes at internal and external meetings.
  • Full driving licence, you may be required to travel to other offices within the area from time to time.

Please also fully read the candidate pack and generic role profile.
