Position: Labour and Human Resources Business Partner


Southbridge Care Homes owns and operates 26 Long-Term Care Homes and 9 Retirement Homes throughout many urban and rural areas of Ontario. Southbridge Care Homes is seeking a Labour and Human Resources Business Partner to deliver support and expertise to our portfolio of LTC and Retirement homes. Reporting to the Manager of People and Culture, the individual will demonstrate flexibility, adaptability, and passion for senior care by delivering high-quality leadership support to our homes.


Responsibilities:


  • Collaborates with stakeholders in the development, recommendation, and implementation of labour and employee relations strategy.
  • Provides guidance to management regarding the interpretation, application, and administration of the collective agreement.
  • Demonstrates leadership and influence on decision makers by coaching and advising on legal and compliance matters, ensuring adherence to all relevant legislation, best practices, policies and procedures, and the Collective Agreement.
  • Travel as required throughout Ontario, a reliable vehicle is a must.
  • Supports the implementation of OH&S processes, including policy development, claims resolutions and disability/ WSIB transitional work management programs
  • Supports the implementation of HR processes including organization design, succession planning, leadership and employee development, change management, performance management, etc.
  • Coordinates and plans for the full cycle collective bargaining process by supporting 3rd party contractor during negotiations and supporting the implementation of collective agreements once complete.


Qualifications:


  • Post-secondary degree in Human Resources and/or Labour Relations is an asset and/or 10 years leadership experience at an operational level.
  • Thorough knowledge of grievance and arbitration processes and other dispute-resolution mechanisms.
  • Strong business acumen; understand the operations and balances the need of the business
  • Thorough knowledge of employment and labour relations legislation, including the Ontario Employment Standards Act, Labour Relations Act, and Ontario Human Rights Code.
  • CHRL designation is an asset.
