General Dynamics Mission Systems Canada is seeking a Program Financial Analyst to join our inclusive and collaborative team in Ottawa. This position is full-time with flexible hybrid work structure, in which you'll provide accurate analysis, including recommendations of financial information with the end-user in mind.
The Financial Analyst will work as part of a team made up of many different business areas, including program managers, financial analysts, and commercial officers. This is a hands-on environment, and you will develop in-depth financial reporting experience.
• Apply contract funding, maintain cost accounts and performs project close out procedures in the accounting system.
• Ensures program estimate-at-completion (EACs) are prepared on a timely basis as per company policy and are accurate, valid, reasonable and supportable with respect to amounts and time profile.
• Supports the Finance function during the month and with month-end close process.
• Engages with program team members regarding key financial performance objectives and status.
• Provides value adding analysis of EBIT and cash flow. Identifies opportunities for improvement, risk identification and mitigation.
• Helps drive progress of strategic action plans (i.e. cost reduction strategies).
• Reviews on a monthly basis the funded contract value, backlog, sales, profit, unbilled receivables, accounts receivable, and inventory balances by program/business area as applicable.
• Identifies Advanced Work Authorization Request (AWAR) requirements in advance through proactive oversight of program expenditures.
• Prepares and processes approved journal entries; supports Earned Value (EV) reporting, prepares and presents monthly reports for program status meetings and reviews as required.
• Provides periodic forecasts for orders, revenue, EBIT and program balance sheet elements for cash flow, as well as supporting calculations required for billings and approves invoices.
• Supports program audit and compliance requirements (SOX controls as applicable) and requests for financial data.
Essential Skills
• University degree in Accounting or Business Administration or equivalent.
• Proficient with MS Excel and experience using ERP financial systems (ie Oracle).
• Analytical capacity to identify trends and problems early-on in the program cycle and communicate recommendations effectively with team members and management.
• Ability to gain understanding of project cost and accounting principles.
• Working towards the completion of an accounting designation is an asset.
• One (1) year or related experience
• Must be able to obtain and maintain Canadian Security Clearance and a positive Controlled Goods Assessment. Eligibility to work in Canada as either a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident.
