Junior Mechanical Engineering Technologist

We are currently searching for a Junior Mechanical Engineering Technologist to join our manufacturing team located near London, Ontario. If you have a mechanical apptitude and are passionate about design we would love to hear from you today!

KEY RESPONSIBLITIES:

• Verify and validate engineering designs by testing protocols and analyzing statistical data
• Conduct final inspection and recommend acceptance or rejection of completed designs
• Evaluate various mechanical products under consideration for purchase to determine their efficiency and cost-effectiveness
• Design, develop and test machines such as motors, tools, instruments, and other mechanical devices; ensuring designs are safe, efficient, effective, and able to be manufactured
• Create and review technical documentation, including project plans, test procedures, and design documents
• Integrate new technologies into machines to insure that the organization is meeting its high quality goals and objectives
• Identify key financial performance indicators and their relationship with project indicators
• Assist with developing project plans and project costing. Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation
• Review, evaluate/approve proposed drawings; recommend improvements to current designs
• Build and maintain good working relationships with production teams, supervisors and other support staff to ensure project success and obtain a cohesive work environment; providing coordination and support to other departments
• Lead mechanical engineering projects; collaborating with other departments (production, purchasing, IT, etc.) to ensure project success

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Effective verbal and written communications skills with the ability to communicate with all levels and disciplines
• Excellent grasp of diverse, fundamental mechanical engineering concepts and relationships
• Solid background in machine design as it relates to motion controls, switches, valves, motors, panel wiring, cylinders, etc.
• Assertive self-starter with attention to detail, flexible to changing priorities, requiring minimal supervision
• Able to identify key issues; creatively and strategically overcome internal challenges or obstacles
• Mechanical Engineering Degree/Diploma or equivalent experience
• Training/knowledge of Six Sigma techniques, Kaizen, and Lean Manufacturing, desirable asset
• Highly proficient with Microsoft Office and Autodesk Inventor (required), advanced mathematical skills
• 2+ years of practical experience (co-op experience included)
• Strong work ethic and positive team attitude
• Practical experience with risk management, product testing, capability studies, control plans
