Role Overview

• The IT manager is responsible for strategic planning and oversight of technology and functionality for all aspects of information technology.
• At the start, the IT manager will support and lead part of the setup of the entity (telephony, local provider relationship, cloud & security…)
• They will ensure efficient delivery of information services in the business line, for transformational projects that they lead or supervises as well as in everyday operations.
• They will identify needs and technology opportunities and recommend technical solutions to support the business strategy. They are central to the sustained growth of the business line as well as operational transformation initiatives.

Responsibilities

The IT Manager:

• Coordinate with EA global, Group project that impacts local entity
• The Regional CIO and Group CIO office;
• Directs ad-hoc project teams as required;
• Articulates the above in an IT roadmap. Ensures alignment of IT investments and other spend with the roadmap;
• Vendors and strategic partners for technology and service delivery;
• Members of the executive committee in Canada;
• Drives maturity and efficiency growth, both in the IT team and in the rest of the organization in the way it interacts with IT and contributes to IT projects;
• Manage an IT budget;
• Has regular interactions with:
• Reports and is held accountable for service levels and other performance indicators.
• Contributes to the definition of the group IT strategy, target service delivery model and sourcing. Promotes and supervises their implementation in the business line;
• Other C-Level executives, in entities, in the course of transverse IT transformation projects;
• Elicits the information system needs of the business lines in its rapid growth and transformation;
• Manage external vendors
• IT team for standard group applications

General Competencies

• The IT Manager should bring up to 12 years of professional experience, ideally in an insurance and call center environment within small to mid-size companies.
• General CRM software, Finance Software, HR management Software
• BI/Reporting
• This experience will have placed the Head of IT into situations where broadness of vision was required. They should possess the ability to address issues and projects in a hands-on manner.
• The ideal candidate will have a broad software solution culture, covering:
• Programing languages
• The ideal candidate will have Master’s degree in the field of computer science or equivalent.
• Telephony systems
• Cloud solutions, O365
• Service center software
• RDMS (Oracle & SQL Server), Operating systems

This is a managerial position, requiring skills and experience in:

• Vendor management
• Hands-on change management and problem solving
• Project management and supervision
• Decision-shaping, good communication skills in a multi-cultural environment
• C-level interaction, corporate vision, seriousness and reliability
• Use consensus approach for problem solving issues and when necessary, the Manager arbitrates and makes final decision.
• Finance and Insurance business fundamentals
• Working with colleagues, clients, and auditors on a regular basis, assistant finance managers are clear communicators with a friendly disposition and a professional demeanor

Requirements

• Languages: English (French is a plus);
• University Degree, preferably in Computer Science (Bachelor or Master’s Degree Preferred)
• Presentation and training expertise with managing the multi-tasks in business development processes.
• Verbal and written English communication and presentation skills.
• Inter-personal and negotiation skills.
