Investment Analyst - Global Trading

The opportunity

Our Trading desk is looking to hire an Analyst to focus on trading within Capital Markets. The dynamic nature of the trading floor is one where you can apply your analytical skills and passion for the markets. This is a perfect opportunity for someone who is eager to follow the markets and formulate views and opinions regarding relative value and liquidity. You will also strive towards continuous improvement of trading techniques by maintaining familiarity with the applicable technology and market structure evolution.

The Analyst will work closely with a highly collaborative group of traders each with their own diverse skillsets and product knowledge.

Our Global Trading team provides Ontario Teachers' with trading capabilities, available to all asset groups and regions, with a focus on minimizing costs while continually improving the trading process.

What you'll do

• Build and maintain relationships with trading counterparties
• Build close working relationships with Operations, IT, Legal/Compliance and risk staff to ensure appropriate resolution of any issues
• Help champion a ‘best execution culture’ within the centralized trading model
• Stay ahead of the newly-emerging systems and execution venues and make recommendations
• Collaborate with Portfolio Managers throughout the investment process
• Work to improve the processes and technologies surrounding the trade lifecycle
• Assist in analyzing the costs and risks associated with trading and look to reduce them for the Fund
• Trade multiple products across many asset classes (including Credit, Rates, Equities, FX, Commodities, and all of their respective Derivatives, as well as Repo and Money Markets).

What you'll need

• Demonstrate creativity, professionalism, initiative, and attention to detail.
• Model Teachers’ values (Integrity, Innovation, Performance, Partnership and Humility)
• Highly proficient in Excel and PowerPoint, familiarity with Bloomberg and programming an asset
• You are able to multi-task, have good time management skills and work ethic.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• A passion for technology, data analytics and markets
• Minimum 1 year of relevant experience at an investment bank, asset manager, or hedge fund
• You are ambitious, with excellent analytical and interpersonal skills.
• Undergraduate/post-graduate degree in a related technical discipline (e.g. economics, business, engineering, computer science) finance or business administration
• Highly self-motivated individual - naturally inquisitive self-starter with a desire to learn
• Ability to balance competing priorities, work independently, manage projects and thrive in a high-performance team environment with strict deadlines
