The Team

The Quantitative Trading Solutions team develops and operates algorithmic trading systems and related software for Scotiabank Global Banking and Markets. We work closely and are tightly integrated with the front-office trading desks.

The Role

We are seeking a talented software developer (C++, Java, Python, and SQL) to work with the Global Equity Derivatives desk to develop and enhance their algorithmic trading strategies in equity derivatives and market making. The algorithms will be implemented on 3rd party automated trading framework.

We are dedicated to leveraging data-driven insights and advanced algorithmic trading strategies and service clients in the global financial markets. You will play a pivotal role in developing, optimizing, and maintaining our trading related algorithms and vendor system(s). You will work closely with a talented team of quantitative analysts, traders, and developers to create and implement algorithmic strategies that capitalize on market opportunities.

We will consider a range of experience levels and adjust role, compensation, and title accordingly.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize algorithmic trading strategies for various asset classes, including equities, options, and futures.
• Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies to drive innovation in algorithmic trading.
• Conduct thorough research and data analysis to identify new trading opportunities and refine existing strategies.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and risk management protocols.
• Maintain and enhance trading systems for low-latency execution, scalability, and reliability.
• Perform support of production trading systems to troubleshoot and quickly resolve any issues or questions.
• Analyze system performance and trading results to find ways to improve efficiency and client executions.
• Creating, enhancing, and supporting algorithmic strategies on a low-latency trading platform.
• Analyzing data to look for trading opportunities and ways to improve profitability.

Qualifications

• 2+ Years with SQL
• 5+ Years Experience in C++ or Java
• Experience with trading platforms and tools (e.g., Bloomberg, FIX protocol, order management systems).
• Strong software development skills, including algorithmic design, problem solving, optimizing and testing.
• Relevant Industry courses/certification such as CSC, CFA an asset
• Solid understanding of financial markets, trading strategies, and quantitative analysis techniques
• Experience in developing real-time event-driven applications
• 2+ Years Linux and shell scripting
• LUA scripting is an asset
• Post-secondary degree in a technology field (Computer Science/Engineering etc) or equivalent training.
• Experience with real-time trading systems (Fidessa, Portware, Flextrade, Tbricks, etc..) an asset
• Background related to trading systems, index arbitrage, ETFs, market-making and similar areas preferred.
• 3+ Years Experience in Python with focus on finance libraries
