About You

HDR is currently seeking an Intermediate Transportation Engineer. The successful candidate will be involved in project coordination, design management, financial and schedule monitoring, stakeholder engagement and negotiations, quality management, and will work closely with a multi-disciplinary team to create high-quality design solutions

Primary Responsibilities

In the role of Intermediate Transportation Engineer we'll count on you to:

• Prepare work plans and schedules in coordination with project managers and other disciplines
• Assist the Project Manager in the day-to-day coordination of projects
• Support engagement and negotiation with key project stakeholders
• Coordinate designs with the rest of the multidisciplinary team including structural, traffic, pavement, environmental, stormwater management, electrical, etc.
• Act as a transportation engineer as needed, including preparing road alignments, cross-sections, active transportation design, grading models, drainage designs, storm sewer network layouts, quantity estimates, cost estimates, project documentation, and specifications
• Participate in pursuit of opportunities and preparation of proposals (technical submission, schedule, and fee estimate)

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
• Self-starter with excellent writing and communication skills
• Extensive experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D, Microstation, and/or Bentley InRoads
• Strong conceptual, organizational, problem solving, and collaboration skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Familiarity with Bentley OpenRoads would be an asset
• Registered P. Eng. in a Canadian province with a strong preference for P.Eng. registered in British Columbia, Alberta or Ontario
• Experience engaging and negotiating with project stakeholders
• An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
• Minimum of 7 years’ experience in highway and/or municipal roadway engineering
• Familiarity with road design practices including application of design standards, TAC Geometric Design Guide, various provincial and municipal standards, and preparing contracts (documents and drawings)
