Intermediate Quality Assurance & Automation Specialist

Giatec Scientific Inc. (Giatec) is seeking an Intermediate Quality Assurance (QA) and Automation Specialist to join our software team to build the next generation of our mobile and web solutions.

As an Intermediate QA and Automation Specialist, you will be a key part of our software QA team. You will be collaborating with other teams to develop first class, usable, reliable solutions that serve our customers in the field and at the office.

The work location for this role is in Ottawa, and we are open to remote candidates. Our preference would be a candidate who can work in a hybrid environment both remotely and in person.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Contribute to establishing and communicating metrics about quality and overall product health.
• Own the testing strategy and effort of a feature from requirements definition through its release.
• Work closely with members of UX, Software, Hardware, and Support teams to ensure that quality and usability goals are being met.
• Participate in Agile development practices as part of the SDLC.
• Participate in and contribute to software design, validation, and release activities.
• Contribute to our automation effort and other quality best practices within the Software Team.
• Participate in executing the testing strategy for our mobile and web application solutions.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

• Experience with test case management and quality process improvements (an asset)
• Strong problem solving, troubleshooting and communication skills.
• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science /Software Engineering or equivalent
• Detail-oriented individual with the ability to adapt the level of detail required according to the problem.
• Scale, performance and stability testing experience (an asset)
• Strong functional testing skills from a customer perspective
• 5+ years in test plan development and execution for enterprise web and/or mobile solutions
• Core knowledge of software quality validation and verification techniques.
• Hands on experience using and developing automated testing frameworks like Cypress, PyTest, Selenium, Karma, Robot.
