Job Description

He is responsible for assisting both the Department and the Steering Team by performing a variety of responsibilities that will guide and promote a team spirit that supports both the Employee's Charter and the industry's goals. The Department Leader supervises and monitors all operations and staff by serving as a liaison in questions of policy application, employee relations, and continuous improvement linked to department functions. The Department Leader has continuing contacts both internally and outside and must combine his/her technical, human, and conceptual talents to plan, lead, and encourage the team toward divisional objectives under the general guidance of General Manager and Assistant General Managers.


Responsibilities


• Perform all duties and promote yourself in a way that matches the Employee Charter's Expectations and Visions/Values.

• Comply with all government, legal, and administrative norms and regulations.

• Help with continual improvement and cost-cutting initiatives.

• Assist in the development of the business plan as well as departmental goals and objectives (people, investors, and customers).

• Ensure that the business plan and departmental goals and objectives (people, investors, customers) are satisfied.

• Create and implement Departmental leadership succession plans.

• Ensure that the department has created short- and long-term planning in areas such as budgeting, manpower, continuous improvement, Quality, Safety, Environmental, and Employee satisfaction.

• Create programs for record retention, continual improvement, standardization, and job training.

• Contribute to the development and implementation of well-defined standards of conduct and communication.

• Ensure that all department employees have access to the necessary training and work instructions.

• Reiterate the Open Door policy.

• Assist in staff recruitment by conducting interviews as needed.

· Respond to issues or concerns presented by Team Members promptly.

• Ensure that appropriate employment counseling and performance feedback are offered.

• Ensure that policies and procedures are created honestly and that they are reviewed and approved as needed.

• Inform, support, and promote company initiatives such as the Employee Charter, Employee Opinion Survey, and Fairness Committee.

• Manage without prejudice or personal bias, including race, creed, or any other banned ground listed in Human Rights legislation.

• In charge of all areas of Quality of Customer programs.

• Responsible for plant-wide IATF 16949 compliance.


Qualifications

• Completion of Quality Assurance, Weld Technology, or Engineering Certificate; or Certificate of Qualification in a Company recognized trade.

• Minimum 10 years of related leadership experience in an automated automotive

manufacturing environment.

• Proven experience with IATF 16949, APQP, PPAP, FMEA, and GD&T an asset.

• CQE or CQM an asset.

• IATF 16949 Lead Auditor an asset.

• Six Sigma Qualification an asset.
