General Manager Jobs

The Opportunity:

Our partner, a popular brewpub in Banff is seeking a General Manager. In this role you will lead a team of management and support staff to ensure all organization standards are followed and executed. As the face of the business, you will oversee and coordinate the day-today management including the planning, organizing, training and leadership necessary to achieve stated objectives in sales, costs, employee retention, guest service and satisfaction, product quality, cleanliness, and sanitation. Develop relationships to ensure the “community focused beer & spirits culture” is followed, by participating in events that position the business as a community stalwart.

What You'll Be Doing:

• Lead the weekly manager meetings with concise direction and objective setting.
• Directly or indirectly responsible for the termination, hiring and training schedule of all positions in the both the FOH and BOH departments.
• Understand and implement completely all policies, procedures, standards, specifications, guidelines and training programs, and act as a voice to help constantly improve in all these areas.
• Ensure that all food and drink products are consistently prepared and served according to the brewpub’s recipes, cooking/ preparing, and serving standards.
• Creates and ensures the atmosphere of the pub leads to a high staff morale.
• Cultivate and promote a culture of FUN amongst the staff.
• Express passion for craft beer & spirits and commit to an ongoing knowledge of the industry and it’s evolving processes.
• Works towards a cohesive and collaborative relationship with the operations manager, as each will learn from one another.
• Analyzes advertising/community event/ promotion opportunities and follows the ROI model to make recommendations to marketing and his/her operations team.
• Establish a ‘partnership’ with your chef to ensure a positive culture in both departments. Additionally, take this same approach with your brewing team to ensure no department ‘silos’ occur.
• Analyzes repair & maintenance costs and makes timely and business minded CAP-EX recommendations.
• Ensure that all guests feel welcome and are given responsive, friendly, and courteous service at all times.
• Control cash and other receipts by adhering to cash handling and reconciliation procedures in accordance with policies and procedures.
• Achieve company objectives (and budgetary forecasts) in sales, service, quality, appearance of facility and sanitation & cleanliness, through training of employees and creating a positive, productive working environment.
• Acutely aware of environment and overall cleanliness with a propensity to act on any problems.

Ability to coach and train management to standards set out within their respective job descriptions, and willing to voice new ideas to help company systems improve or evolve.

What You'll Need to Be Successful:

• Have proficient skills with Microsoft Office.
• Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time.
• Be 18 years of age with a valid SIN or Working Visa.
• Possess excellent basic math skills and can operate a POS system.
• Have a minimum of five years of experience as a General Manager and/or Multi Unit Operations experience in a similar environment.
• An infectious and positive attitude that creates a fun atmosphere.
• Possession of Pro Serve Certificate or equivalent.
