Welcome to Frontier Transport Ltd., based in Thorsby, AB, we are a family-owned trucking company that has been active in the trucking industry since 2015. We are a diversification effort enacted to support a related company, Frontier Construction Products Ltd., a steel culvert manufacturer located in Thorsby, AB. Over time, Frontier Transport Ltd. has grown beyond supporting internal company loads and now provides efficient and reliable freight services to outside customers. Our company values focus on customer service, safe operations, fair prices, and real-time communication.
Frontier Transport Ltd. currently has seven trucks and a range of flat decks, step decks, dry vans, and roll-tite trailers, hauling a variety of goods across Canada. We are also a third-party logistics freight broker, actively brokering freight throughout North America.
We are looking for an experienced, self-motivating, energetic General Manager who enjoys the challenges of working in a fast-paced environment with competing demands. Your experience and expertise in the transport industry will enable you to lead the growth of Frontier Transport Ltd. in a planned, sustainable, and profitable manner. Reporting to the senior management team, the General Manager (GM) will oversee operations and provide leadership to Frontier Transport Ltd. to:
- Identify and achieve key profitability objectives while building a strong brand in the industry.
- Be responsible for the overall performance of the company in terms of both operational excellence and efficiency, while ensuring exceptional customer service.
- Be responsible in developing and executing the business plan & the achievement of Key Performance Indicators in the areas of customer, financial, human resources, internal business processes, internal and external stakeholders, and suppliers.
- Design, plan, and manage all company resources to enhance value to all company stakeholders.
- Seek out and explore opportunities to grow or evolve the business by collaborating with customers, other transport companies, community, government, and other businesses.
- Ensure customer obligations are met, and exceeded where possible, in regards to inbound and outbound deliveries, on-time arrivals, and quality standards.
- Champion and drive a culture of safe operations and ensure that national transport regulations are being followed.
- Be responsible for driving and motivating all business units toward the accomplishment of business plans, and key profitability indicators.
- Enhance the internal culture by providing mentorship, training, recognition, and support to retain employees.
Required Education and Experience:
- 4+ years business operations management experience;
- Intermediate skills in MS Office: MS Word, MS Excel;
- 4+ years in the transport industry;
- Experience using Axon or similar software is an asset;
- Familiarity with GPS and logging devices;
- Class 1 driver’s license is an asset;
- 4+ years sales (inside and outside sales experience) and business development experience;
- Clear Criminal Record Check.
- Copy of driver’s license and a drivers abstract;
- Post Secondary coursework in business, logistics or similar;

- Financial management: profit and loss analysis, and budget management;
- Must be team focused: empower team members to do their best and inspire the team in a positive way;
- Human resource management: recruiting talent, supervising team, and managing performance;
- Strategic management: developing annual business plans, and execution of business plans.
- Effective relationship builder: skilled in inside and outside sales;
- Must be sales oriented: assertive, outgoing, and personable;
- Must demonstrate business acumen: ability to read, interpret, and analyze profit and loss statements and implement key performance indicator metrics;
