Job Description
Laitram Machinery, a division of Laitram, LLC, is looking for a technical, energetic, and self-reliant Field Service Engineer to service and manage its Canada accounts. This is a key role assuming primary responsibility for regional customer relations, field installations and training, and equipment optimization services. Occasional overseas travel required. Responsibilities
  • Lead mechanical and electrical subcontractors engaged by Laitram Machinery
  • Manage and perform mechanical and electrical assembly, installation, and commissioning of equipment
  • Assist our commercial team in the selling of the Company’s food processing equipment and services
  • Plan and perform trials to optimize equipment performance and demonstrate value
  • Responsible for managing a work warehouse
  • Provide insightful technical feedback to the Company’s Engineering and R&D departments to improve equipment performance and value
  • Provide warranty support by diagnosing failures, ordering parts, and affecting repairs and replacements
  • Train customers to operate, maintain and optimize equipment performance
Requirements
  • Must have the ability to speak and read French
  • Ability to travel extensively (40%) both domestically and internationally and work weekends, holidays when required
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with a high level of attention to detail
  • Ability to understand and work from mechanical, electrical drawings, and schematic reading
  • Proficiency with PLC software and hardware
  • Manage parts warehouse for you region.
  • Ability to independently install, troubleshoot and repair mechanical/electrical equipment and control systems
  • Positive, confident outlook with an entrepreneurial, problem-solving personality
  • Bachelor or college degree in electrical, mechanical, electronics or instrumentation engineering
  • Minimum 5 years’ of work experience
  • Strong electro-mechanical skills (electrical panels, motors, drives and networks), experience with industrial control systems
  • Ability to read and understand manufacturer’s drawings and manuals to “self-teach” new technology
  • Effective communication (verbal and written) and relationship skills
  • Proficient with Excel and Word
  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record
  • Able to perform all essential job requirements identified in the Functional for this position, including the ability to safely lift up to 75 lbs., climb ladders, work in tight spaces, and stand, kneel, and squat on a repetitive basis.
