Job Description
Laitram Machinery, a division of Laitram, LLC, is looking for a technical, energetic, and self-reliant Field Service Technician to service and manage its Canada accounts. This is a key role assuming primary responsibility for regional customer relations, field installations and training, and equipment optimization services. Occasional overseas travel required. Responsibilities
  • Responsible for managing a work warehouse
  • Provide warranty support by diagnosing failures, ordering parts and affecting repairs and replacements
  • Provide insightful technical feedback to the Company’s Engineering and R&D departments to improve equipment performance and value
  • Assist our commercial team in selling of the Company’s food processing equipment and services.
  • Train customers to operate, maintain and optimize equipment performance
  • Plan, manage and perform mechanical and electrical assembly, installation and commissioning of equipment
  • Plan and perform trials to optimize equipment performance and demonstrate value
Requirements
  • Positive, confident outlook with an entrepreneurial, problem-solving personality
  • Able to perform all essential job requirements identified in the Functional for this position, including the ability to safely lift up to 75 lbs., climb ladders, work in tight spaces, and stand, kneel and squat on a repetitive basis.
  • Minimum 5+ years’ of work experience as a mechanical or electrical technician
  • Effective communication (verbal and written) and relationship skills
  • Ability to read and understand manufacturer’s drawings and manuals to “self-teach” new technology
  • Ability to independently install, troubleshoot and repair mechanical/electrical equipment and control systems
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with high level of attention to detail
  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record
  • 2 + years Electrical, Controls, PLC (Schneider) and Automation Systems experience.
  • Proficient with Excel and Word
  • Ability to travel extensively (40%) both domestically and internationally and work weekends, holidays as needed
  • Must have the ability to speak and read French
Desired Qualifications
  • Technical degree (electrical/mechanical/automation)
  • Experience with food processing equipment
  • Ability to MIG weld
  • Strong electro-mechanical skills (electrical panels, motors, drives and networks), experience with industrial control systems
