We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Biomedical Scientist to join our Tissue Engineering team with a mission to validate and commercialize VoxCell’s tissue models as tools for preclinical drug testing. The role of the Biomedical Scientist will focus on assessing the impact of drug candidates on VoxCell’s tissue models by performing a variety of cellular assays. This will require expertise in designing experiments, a demonstrated ability to perform cellular assays, and proficiency in data analysis and presenting results. The ideal candidate will also bring their innovative ideas to the table, have excellent communication skills, and will excel when facing new or unexpected challenges.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain clear and accurate records of all experiments and results.
- Analyze and interpret experimental data using statistical methods and software tools to draw meaningful conclusions and identify trends and patterns.
- Contribute to the planning and execution of experiments for external partnerships with pharma, small biotech companies, or CROs.
- Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team that includes biomedical and mechanical engineers, chemists, and software engineers to contribute to the development and commercialization of new preclinical testing tools.
- Write scientific reports, papers, and grants, presenting research findings at conferences and publishing in peer-reviewed journals.
- Assist in the training and supervision of laboratory staff, including technicians, students, and interns.
- Collect results using a fluorescent microscope, plate reader, and/or confocal microscope.
- Conduct a range of cellular assays to evaluate cell viability, morphology, migration, apoptosis, and protein expression in response to drug candidates in VoxCell’s tissue models.
- Design and develop new experimental protocols, methodologies, and assays to address research questions and achieve project objectives.
Requirements:
- Ability to work independently to execute critical tasks and projects.
- Excellent problem-solving skills to adapt to evolving challenges and constraints.
- Experience with fluorescent microscopy and fluorescent or luminescent assays.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Expertise in cell culture and performing cellular assays, preferably in an industry setting.
- Proven collaborative skills of thriving in a small team environment.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to present complex scientific concepts to team members with diverse backgrounds.
- Bachelor’s in Biochemistry, Biology, or a related field with a minimum of 2 years of work experience.
