As a Biophysics Scientist in our Research & Development department, you’ll support the development and testing of cell separation and other biological systems. Utilizing your deep technical knowledge of computer modeling, you will test your in silico hypotheses through biological experimental research in a lab setting. These models will drive product design and development to provide scientists around the world with cutting-edge tools and technologies that help advance scientific discovery.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop in-silico models to simulate biological systems and processes using theoretical and experimental design, analysis, and research
  • Generates hypotheses from analyzed data and formulate models to test experimental outcomes by optimizing biological systems and integrating instrumentation and materials inputs
  • Conduct lab-based experiments to test models, including planning, reviewing and analyzing experimental results; develop research solutions and implement new techniques for biophysics based modeling
  • Recommend technical and scientific resources, responsible for research project planning, timelines and budget
  • Identify opportunities for new methods from academia, and adapt and integrate additional functionality into the analysis of cell separation and biological processes

Knowledge And Qualifications

  • Excellent communication skills (verbal, written and presentation) both in one-on-one and in group settings, and ability to synthesize complex analyses into simple explanations is a must
  • Hands on experience designing, performing, interpreting and documenting experiments independently, with broad knowledge of technical methodologies within the biophysics field as well as awareness of emerging new technologies
  • BSc in Biochemistry, Applied Physics, Biophysics or Biomedical Engineering with 6-10 years of relevant experience in the life sciences industry, or an MSc with 3-6 years or PhD with 0-2 years relevant experience required
  • Extensive theoretical understanding and practical knowledge of a wide array of biophysics developments, complex statistics, and methods to interrogate data and implement modeling, and experience utilizing biophysics to solve problems in biological, chemistry or bioengineering systems
  • Familiarity with biological research techniques such as mammalian cell culture, flow cytometry, and molecular biology
