Family Office Accountant Jobs

Crowe BGK is currently looking for a senior accountant for our client, a family office.
The role requires you to report directly to the principals and supervise an assistant. The office is located in Westmount, easily accessible by public transportation (bus and metro) and is close to restaurants and shopping.
This is a hybrid role with a flexible 4-day work week and 2 weeks paid vacation. Salary commensurate with experience.
Primary Responsibilities:

• Other related tasks
• Coordinate financial activities with family advisors such as bankers, accountants and lawyers. Including requests for information and communicating the execution of approved transactions
• Coordinate with external accountant for corporate tax payments, tax filings and government assessments
• Supervise administrative assistant to ensure deposits, cheques, wire transfers and bank reconciliations are prepared properly
• Periodic reporting to the principals on the status of investments and fair values including obtaining supporting information.
• Preparation of working papers for external accountants including reconciliation of accounts to tax slips and investment advisor reports
• Responsible for day-to-day recordkeeping of investment activities up to general ledger for approximately 10-15 entities including investment holding companies, charitable foundations, trusts and estates.

What you need to succeed:

• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Creative problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• University or college degree in accounting is an asset
• Experience with family office, an asset
• 5 – 10 years of experience in accounting for investments and partnerships
• Knowledge on alternative investment vehicles and their appropriate accounting and tax implications including foreign exchange, conventional portfolio investments, Canadian and US partnerships, mutual funds
• Strong knowledge of Office Suite and QuickBooks
• Resourceful and self-motivated
