The Opportunity:

WSP is currently seeking for an Expediting Lead to be part of our team. The role is responsible for leading the expediting team including organization, resource planning, client and supplier relationship, reporting and performance management as it relates to successful completion of projects by WSP. Also, responsible for the expediting functions including ensuring the timely submission of engineering deliverables and delivery of equipment/materials by supplier(s).

Responsibilities

A day in the life:

• Manage deadlines and ensure appropriate communication is provided (to relevant parties) when schedule conflicts arise.
• Follow-up with the supplier to determine schedule restoration plans and corrective actions to ensure delivery performance, and/or monitor activities during product manufacturing/shipment.
• Approves progress payment invoices for suppliers and third-part agencies.
• Evaluating supplier performance as related to completion of deliverables, equipment/material deliveries and product quality.
• Participates in the development / enhancement of tools, system, process and procedures for the SCM department.
• Ensures departmental and corporate policies, procedures, systems and work instructions are adhered to.
• Training and mentoring of expediting personnel.
• Communicate equipment/material delays and schedule conflicts with Project Team.
• Interfacing with project and supplier personnel to assist in the resolution of delivery and problems.
• Expected to work with all levels of the organization in a cohesive manner.
• Assist Manager, Supply Chain Management as needed.
• Providing leadership in the selection, performance appraisal and training of expediting staff.
• May be assigned as the Expediting Lead on projects.
• Communicating concerns and resolving issues with suppliers and sub-suppliers.
• Support Manager, Supply Chain for preparing man-hour estimates for various projects and participates in the management of those hours.
• Expedite the exchange of schedules, drawings and documents between home-office and suppliers.
• Typically responsible for large complex mechanical packages and large fabrication packages.
• Planning, organizing, coordinating and directing the work of the expediting team.
• Collaborate with relevant ‘key working relationships,’ such as Client procurement representatives and vendors, to ensure all procurement activities have been addressed and covered off.
• Prepares scope for transportation and route studies. Support the purchasing team during bidding, evaluation and award of transportation service orders.
• Coordinates and/or conducts shop visits for verification progress of ordered equipment and material at supplier’s facility including identifying issues and working on resolution / mitigation plan.
• Works collaboratively with Procurement and the Supplier Quality Surveillance team.
• Work closely with other disciplines to coordinate for timely submission and return of vendor drawings and documents.
• Monitors and coordinates matters relating to Freight and Transportation.

Qualifications

What You'll Bring to WSP

• University or College graduate with 12 or more years of experience of working on Energy, Resources and Industrial projects.
• Proficiency with Purchasing and inventory management systems, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
• Strong relationship management and negotiation skills.
• Must be results-oriented and self-motivated.
• Provide assistance in the resolution of complex problems.
• Experienced in preparing new forms, templates procedures and instructions.
• Excellent administration, interpersonal and communication skills.
• Understanding of procurement responsibilities such as business ethics and fundamental purchasing principles.
• Several years of experience as expediting lead.
