Job Description
Job Type:

Intern/Student (Fixed Term)

Plains is an industry-leading transportation and midstream provider specializing in transportation, storage, processing and marketing solutions for crude oil and natural gas liquids (NGLs). Plains also operates strategically-located facilities for crude oil and NGL storage, separates NGL from natural gas and fractionates NGL into pure liquid petroleum gas (LPG) products, including propane and butane.

Fueled by our strong leadership team and a dedicated employee base, combined with our expertise in marketing, logistics and our asset base, Plains is well-positioned to provide our customers with flexible, value-added services now and in the future.

We are looking for high achieving, analytical, creative, entrepreneurial, and passionate students to join our Early Talent program. The Plains Early Talent program offers students the opportunity to learn and develop the skills they need to pursue long, successful careers in the energy industry.

Students are an integral part of our team, whose contributions help drive our business forward. Plains is proud to foster a culture where students are empowered to ask questions and feel as though they are part of the team from day one. We provide our students with opportunities to build their professional networks through working alongside skilled professionals, mentors, and other students.

Plains’ internship opportunities have been specifically designed to provide students the opportunity to apply their academic studies and gain valuable experience through meaningful and challenging work. Intern opportunities are available in a variety of our business groups.

Currently, Plains has a unique opportunity for a student to join our Project Development Engineering team in our Calgary office for an 8, 12, or 16-month term position beginning May 2024. The successful student will work closely with Project Managers and Project Engineers to help research, scope, and estimate projects from initial concept to Approval for Expenditure. Projects originate with our Emerging Energy, Natural Gas Liquids, and Crude Business Development teams and will be presented to commercial, field operations, and engineering stakeholders. The successful student can expect to gain valuable experience in multi-discipline engineering design, project management, project governance, project economics, and researching emerging technologies to improve energy efficiency in our industry.

Responsibilities:

  • Navigate and interpret multi-discipline engineering drawings and documents;
