Job Description
Work Arrangement: At Office / Facility


Department: Operations Engineering Area


Overview


Pembina Pipelines is looking for an Engineering Intern to work in our field location Northwest of Hythe, Alberta with our Gas Services Business Unit. Preferred engineering disciplines for these roles are: Mechanical or Chemical. Internships will be for an 8 or 12-month term and will begin September 5, 2023.


Responsibilities


Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:


  • Support the facility through the execution of assigned Management of Change assignments and projects associated that impact processing equipment and infrastructure related to Natural Gas processing;
  • Assist in the reporting of key team performance indicators;
  • Ensure MOC and project deliverables are technically accurate and meet project requirements;
  • Support the development of new Process Safety Information Systems and registries as well as update and maintain active systems;
  • Actively champion facility P&ID updates, drawing reviews and validation;
  • Collaborate with various stakeholders at the facilities, project teams and others within the organization to execute assignments at the facility;
  • Focus on deliverables related to priorities and time-sensitive deadlines; and
  • Commitment to continuously act in a safe, environmental and socially conscientious manner.
  • Support the various Technical Services Engineers as well as the Maintenance and Operations teams as required in the areas of process evaluation, incident investigations, project definition and development, project engineering, project controls (cost and schedule), and procedure development;


Job Qualifications


  • Completion of 2nd or 3rd year of a four-year accredited Engineering program in the disciplines of Mechanical or Chemical;
  • Strong computer skills and literacy in word processing, presentation, and spreadsheet software including MS Power Point, MS Word, MS Excel, MS Project and Visio;
  • Exemplifies traits conducive to organizational growth and success such as team building, persistence and dedication to quality work, and the ability to learn and develop daily;
  • Ability to work independently and make decisions in the absence of a supervisor; and
  • Understand Project Management practices and application of PM processes;
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to maintain strong working relationships.
  • Previous experience working in an engineering environment would be considered an asset;
  • Have the capacity to learn and succeed in a fast pace working environment;
  • Must possess good communication and problem-solving skills, ability to articulate ideas, be detail oriented, and be comfortable dealing with associates at all levels within the organization;
  • Possess working knowledge of engineering principles related to the gas processing industry and be knowledgeable in applicable rules and regulations governing the industry;
  • Demonstrate understanding of basic principles related to engineering and operation of gas processing facilities and pipelines.;


Field Requirements


  • If required, a one-time relocation allowance may be provided; and
  • Must possess valid license and have access to a vehicle to commute to and from site.
  • This is not a camp-based position;
