Data Engineer Analyst Intern

This internship opportunity has a targeted duration of 12 months, beginning on January 8, 2024

Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

• Assess data quality concerns specific to workflow solutions being adopted and driving mitigation activities.
• Identify, acquire, cleanse/prepare, store data, and develop reusable data products aligned with defined architecture patterns.
• Monitoring and reporting on progress and deliverables.
• Support the life cycle management process for models.
• Understand the business use of data and stakeholder requirements to support work processes and strategic business objectives.
• Maintaining and sharing knowledge of requirements, key data types and data definitions, data stores, data creation process.
• Performance optimization using performance tuning techniques.
• Analyze current state of data management: process, practices, tools, and helping shape future needs. Contributing to the design of common information models.
• Designing visualization that will provide insights and create value.
• Identify and frame opportunities to apply advanced analytics, modeling, and related technologies to data that provide insight and improve decision making, and automation.
• Partner with business (digital platform, Business Units, function teams) and delivery teams to provide data management direction and support for data foundation initiatives and data products development.
• Collaborate with machine learning engineers to scale and deploy solutions including models, documentation, training, and integration.
• Partner with data scientists, making data available for advanced analytics models, and contribute to advanced analytics models.
• Perform Data transformation like normalization and aggregation to support analytical and reporting needs.
• Advise on the appropriate data integration patterns, data modeling and data quality.
• Contribute to the inner source development of foundational tools, and the deployment of technical services.
• Data integration pipeline development

Qualifications

• Familiarity with ETL, SQL, SSIS, data warehousing and metadata management.
• Hands-on development or system integration experience (classroom or job-related).
• Familiarity with secure coding best practices.
• Must be able to obtain a security clearance and maintain the clearance throughout their employment.
• Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
• Strong analytic skills related to structured and unstructured datasets.
• Familiarity with developing in Java, .NET, HTML, SharePoint, Perl, Python, UIPath, Ruby, PowerApps or other development / scripting languages using Azure Git repository.
• Students pursuing a bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Management Information Systems, or related fields or equivalent experience.
• Previous energy industry related internship experience is an asset.
• Strong academic performance in core programs, communication, leadership, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
