Co-Op/Intern Cloud Engineer, Observability

Job location: our office in Ottawa, Canada or Remote, Canada

Term
length: 4 or 8 months starting January 2024

About The Team

As a member of our Cloud Platform Analytics and Observability team, you will be responsible for analyzing and interpreting data from cloud-based systems and databases and presenting insights to key stakeholders. You will also be responsible for developing automation to mature our observability strategy. You will gain valuable experience working with a range of cloud-native tools and platforms and will have the opportunity to work on real-world projects.

What you will do

• Develop and implement scripts to help collect and synchronize data between systems
• Write configuration-as-code and/or infrastructure-as-code using Ansible and Terraform
• Assist with application performance monitoring solutions for Kinaxis’ Cloud environments
• Develop dashboards to communicate insights to key stakeholders
• Analyze data from cloud-based systems
• Design, organize and operationalize alert rules
• Develop and publish performance and capacity metrics for existing services
• May perform additional projects upon request
• Prototype and template monitoring agent configurations to serve various requirements

What we are looking for

• Student enrolled in a post-secondary diploma or degree program in computer science or a related disciplineStrong presentation and written communication skills
• A passion for computer and cloud technologies
• Ability to work as part of a team and independently when requested
• Must be a Canadian Citizen or a Permanent Resident due to CGRP security requirements
• Detail-oriented, hardworking and enthusiastic

• JIRA, Confluence, Github (BitBucket/Stash)
• Cloud Cost Management tools (Looker, Cloudability)
• Infrastructure-as-code and configuration-as-code: Ansible, Terraform, Cloudify
• Microsoft/Linux based servers both on premised and in the public cloud
• Virtual and cloud infrastructure for development, support and testing
• Monitoring and logging tools (Datadog, LogicMonitor, Grafana)
• Scripting (SQL, Python, PowerShell, Bash, etc.)
