Closures Technical Centre, a division of Magna International Inc., is focused on the design, development and testing of Mechatronics products for the automotive industry. We are currently looking for a student in the Engineering field for a 12 month co-op placement starting mid-August.

Key Qualifications/Requirements

• Proficient with word processing spreadsheet and database applications
• Working towards Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from accredited university
• Developing communication skills verbal and written
• Basic competency in CAD
• Developing organizational skills and the ability to successfully complete multiple tasks within established and changing deadlines

Key Responsibilities

• Receives assignments preparation of simple plans designs calculations costs and bills of material in accordance with established codes standards drawings or other specifications (usually minor components of larger scope programs and projects)
• May carry out routine technical surveys or inspections and prepare reports
• Analyzes products and formulates engineering conclusions by the application of engineering and/or mathematical principles and tools
• Follows Magna’s Code of Conduct & Ethics and related compliance policies
• Supports the complete development for the designated products including but not limited to design build and test activities in accordance with standard operating procedures and the product delivery process
• Understands and follows existing policies procedures work instructions and standards and makes recommendations for continuous improvements
• Supports CAE activities (perform hand calculations)
• Generally assigned to components subassemblies or systems that are less complex in nature carry over parts existing business and/or minor modifications Where assigned to systems responsibility is usually for component(s) within the system
• Perform other duties as required
• Writes/compiles engineering content for the following deliverables engineering specifications and documentation including DVP&R’s 8D’s GD&T BOM prototype control plans key product characteristics engineering changes and work orders
• Supports effective communications within the project team and the customer supplier manufacturing and quality communities with guidance from engineering management and senior engineering personnel Maintains all appropriate documentation
• Supports customer requirements regulations and product specifications into the design of the designated products ensuring compliance with operational cost timing safety reliability quality and manufacturing feasibility parameters
• With guidance from engineering management is able to Analyze QFD FEA FMEA DOE VA/VE and DFM/DFA as required
• Consults and collaborates with personnel in various engineering and design activities relative to product development requirements
