Position Overview

The Driver Manager at Whistler Connection is responsible for managing a team of drivers and ensuring the smooth operation of the transportation services.

This role requires strong leadership skills, the ability to build and maintain relationships with drivers of diverse backgrounds, and a focus on driver safety. The Driver Manager will work closely with the General Manager and other team members to recruit, train, schedule, and support drivers while complementing the existing team.

Based in Whistler, BC

$60,000 - $85,000 per year

Full time, year round, weekends

Key Responsibilities

• Provide ongoing support and performance management for drivers, addressing any issues or concerns promptly and professionally.
• Develop and implement driver training programs to ensure compliance with company standards and industry regulations.
• Build positive relationships with drivers, fostering a cohesive and inclusive team environment.
• Collaborate with other managers and team members to ensure efficient operations and service delivery.
• Promote driver safety and enforce safety protocols to minimise incidents.
• Assist the dispatch team to schedule drivers effectively to meet service demands, considering driver availability and skills.
• Assist with subcontractors when training on our systems is required.
• Manage driver uniform inventory, including new orders and repairs.
• Maintain accurate records of driver information, schedules, and training records.
• Assist in creating shuttle plans and assigning driver shifts.
• Take responsibility for the recruitment, selection, and onboarding of new drivers.

Requirements

• BC Class 4 (unrestricted) driving licence.
• Strong planning, scheduling, and time management skills.
• BC Class 2 driving licence or a willingness to obtain it within a year.
• Experience in managing people or working in a fast-paced dispatch environment.
• Willingness to work weekends and variable start/finish times with an understanding of seasonal changes in workload subject to business levels.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proven leadership skills and the ability to build positive relationships with drivers of diverse backgrounds.
• Exceptional organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Proficient in using modern software tools, such as Google Workplace.

Not essential, but a plus:

• Recruitment experience.
• Working knowledge of Whistler Connection dispatch software.
• Training experience.
• Qualified driving instructor.
