We currently have a full-time opportunity for a Director Retail Enablement and Optimization to provide strategic and operational leadership of Continuous Improvement, Project Integration and Store Communications, across all supported Business Unites.


Here’s Where You’ll Be Focusing


Provide strategic and operational leadership of Continuous Improvement, Project integration and Store Communications, across all supported Business Units


Align Continuous Improvement strategy, organization structure, governance and standards, with Sobeys strategic principles on:


  • Enable retail innovation, facilitating pilot programs and evaluation of results in advance of larger roll-out decisions
  • Build and own the retail enablement backlog of process improvement opportunities
  • Customer service (internal & external)
  • Cost control and efficiencies
  • Sponsor and support small business-led initiatives
  • Aligning systems
  • Identify ways to improve policies, procedures, and processes relating to Retail operations staying abreast of industry innovation and best practices
  • Align with store operations to manage appropriate pace of change
  • Ensuring technologies, accounting, and controls lead to high quality service delivery
  • Sponsor and support the team on deep dives on critical business processes to evaluate efficiency and effectiveness
  • Collaborate with business product owners for continued systems optimization
  • Monitor and compare operational metrics to known industry standards or benchmarks and to ourselves historically
  • Build store communications strategy in partnership with Operations; evolve and improve the day to day communications approach, methodology and tools
  • Collaborate and plan closely with Retail Systems Product Owners and store operations teams to innovate and execute for our stores
  • Harmonizing/standardizing processes
  • Sponsor and drive forward opportunities to bring benefits (financial and other) to Retail Operations,
  • Collaborate in the process optimization opportunities for the Company


People leadership


  • Communicate employee engagement results and commit to engagement action plan
  • Lead functional team and drive engagement
  • Coach, develop and empower members within functional team


Knowledge of English is required, as the candidate will be expected to work closely with peers in other provinces in planning, developing and implementing processes and participating in key national strategic projects. The incumbent will also have to supervise members of her team who are based in provinces other than Quebec.


What You Have To Offer


  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a Continuous Improvement retail environment
  • An Undergraduate Degree and a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience
  • Preferred - Bilingual
  • Strong communication skills
  • Strong business acumen
