Dynamic Specialty (https://dynamicspecialty.com/) has been in business for thirty years, supplying and servicing mid-size buses for demanding industries, including tour companies, care facilities, schools, and transit agencies. With facilities in Port Kells, Calgary, and Edmonton, the team at Dynamic has long-term employees that foster an environment of trust and collaboration. They maintain long-term contractual relationships with major companies across Western Canada. Many of Dynamics' clients have been with them for nearly three decades.
Position Overview:
Reporting to the Vice President of Operations, we’re seeking a Director of Production to take on this newly created position. This position requires managing the technical aspects of the vehicle completion and option additions, certifications, compliance documentation, and supporting customers through design and assembly issues. While the process currently runs well, they have over 40,000 square feet of space available. They are open to investing in new technologies, processes, and systems as necessary to maintain high-quality levels and increase output.
Not only will the Director of Production foster ongoing relationships with existing/new clients and internal/external teams, but this role also provides the opportunity to apply engineering judgment and self-directed efforts to benefit the business overall. They are fortunate to have built an environment with extremely low turnover, loyal, long-term, knowledgeable staff, and a high-profile customer base.
Duties include:
- Develop planning processes for production divisions and find solutions for daily operating and maintenance problems, long-term business needs, and regulatory compliance.
- Liaise with equipment vendors for modification development and/or vehicle troubleshooting and OEMs and Transport Canada for compliance.
- Review design documentation and substantiation reports from vehicle manufacturers and liaise with contract managers and customers to ensure design needs are met.
- Working with Production and Maintenance personnel to ensure project expectations are requirements are clearly defined and resolved.
- Identify, initiate, and implement improvement opportunities in process safety, reliability, and cost-effective operations.
- Create test procedures to ensure proper equipment operations and demonstrate compliance with appropriate organizations.
What the company will expect from you:
- Engineering project management and leadership experience
- Travel as required (US & Canada)
- Experience with technical writing procedures, work instructions, guides, and manuals
- AutoCAD experience and previous Transport Canada delegations are an asset
- 3 + years working in the automotive or transferable industry
- Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Automotive Engineering
- Ability to work independently in an office environment
