We are looking for a talented Director- Fuel Cell Performance and Controls Engineering to join our team specializing in Engineering for our New Power Business in Mississauga, ON. This is a Hybrid positions, expectation is to be onsite 2 or 3 days a week.
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
- Operates as the recognized specialist or expert in a discipline or product area across a global business unit with the responsibility of developing talent (direct or indirect) across the area of influence.
- This product focused leadership position directs the integration, tailoring, and deploying of electronic systems for Cummins products to meet a specific customer need. People working in these positions are responsible for managing technical aspects of supplier and customer relationships and are experts in solving issues and optimizing electronic systems to ensure customer success.
- Creates, manages, improves, and applies electronic application and systems development processes and tools. Processes include system specification, modelling and simulation, calibration, Design Verification Plan and Report (DVP&R), and troubleshooting. Tools include Simulink, calibration tools, PTC Integrity.
- Obtains input and negotiates with product teams, electronic component suppliers, OEMs, and customers, and delivers electronic control systems to product teams and OEMs.
- Uses systems knowledge and expertise to make decisions in the areas of integration, tailoring, validation and deployment that impact electronic system performance and reliability.
- Provides technical leadership for the business's most complex global technical challenges.
- Leads electronics technical integration between Cummins and key external stakeholders such as OEMs, Fleets, and suppliers.
- Sets the direction for the development and improvement of work processes and systems across function(s) within a global business unit or across business units.
To be successful in this role you will need the following:
Design and Application of Mechatronics Systems - Specifies electronic hardware and interconnections that measure and control systems; applies electronic hardware and interconnections in Cummins' products.
Machine Integration and Optimization - Combines various parts or sub-systems into a whole to achieve the output most desired by the customer; applies Cummins' installation requirements using our standard tools, processes and identified best practices to ensure optimization of performance, reliability, cost and quality; analyzes technical issues using proven problem-solving and troubleshooting techniques for rapid resolution.
Product Function Modeling, Simulation and Analysis - Impacts product design decisions through the utilization and/or interpretation of computational tools and methods that predict the capability of a product's function relative to its system, sub-system and/or component level requirements.
Product Problem Solving - Solves product problems using a process that protects the customer; determines the assignable cause; implements robust, data-based solutions; and identifies the systemic root causes and recommended actions to prevent problem reoccurrence.
Systems Thinking - Defines the system of interest by drawing the boundaries, identifying its context within its environment, its interfaces, and that it has a lifecycle to aid in planning the problem statement, scope and deliverables ; analyzes linkages and interactions between elements that comprise the system of interest by using appropriate methods, models and integration of outcomes to understand the system, predict its behavior and devise modifications to it in order to produce the desired effects.
Education/Experience
- Lead global teams to develop complete integrated system controls for fuel cell module and systems.
- Hardware and Software knowledge
- Oversee the expansion and management of controls architecture and performance calibrations for fuel cell systems and module solutions worldwide.
- Minimize the architectural variation to what is deemed appropriate based on a changing environment and business interests.
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering or advanced degree preferred.
- This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
- Provide guidance on system test and validation, oversee controls verification and validation activities.
- Ensuring key metrics, processes, capabilities, and capacity are planned and executed to meet the needs of the business initiatives and programs.
- Provide guidance on software development, algorithms, calibrations, and methods for embedded software.
- Develop and establish HIL/SIL
- Cummins Core 2 Software
- Experience with Matlab/Simulink
- Provide support and planning to technical product leaders with embedded controls solutions, diagnostics, software tools and system performance realization.
- Close collaboration with the Accelera global controls architects along with partnering with the Cummins Software and Electronics organization.
- Demonstrated leadership ability in a relevant Technical Advisor role through a range of varying business scenarios and/or life cycles. Advanced level proficiency in many of the enterprise and functional competency areas.
Base salary range: $126,750.00 – $211,250.00
Please note that the salary range provided is a good faith estimate on the applicable range. The final salary offer will be determined after considering relevant factors, including a candidate’s qualifications and experience, where appropriate.
