Job Description
Job Summary


Reporting to the President of the Senators Community Foundation, the Director, Foundation Signature Events & Fundraising Relationships is responsible for planning, logistics and execution of signature events such as an annual marquee Soirée, Telethon and the Sens Charity Golf Tournament. Responsibilities will include leading the planning and execution of new and existing events, collaborating closely with Marketing, Community and Player Relations and Communications teams internally. The Director of Foundation events will also work closely with external event partners, charities and volunteers.

You are a passionate champion of the Senators Community Foundation mission to improve the lives of youth, families and marginalized community groups through the game of hockey and improve access to physical and mental health resources in eastern Ontario and western Quebec.

Primary Responsibilities


  • Develop critical paths and work back schedules for activities
  • Help ensure Foundation’s annual fundraising goals are met
  • Remain up to date with new marketing trends
  • Self-motivated and disciplined with demonstrated ability to take primary responsibility for diverse number of projects and to complete them in a timely manner
  • Work with the marketing & communications team to plan and execute materials and messaging
  • Manage and resolve donor interactions on sensitive topics (terms of agreement, receipting, branding, promotion, and timelines) in a manner that ensures positive relationships, interactions, and outcomes with the donor; produce sponsorship reports for sponsors
  • Develop and monitor budget allocations and make decisions that align with resource availability
  • Excellent organizational, communication and presentation skills including proposal development and networking skills with large groups as well as individuals
  • Help establish effective fundraising goals, objectives and KPIs, including creation of tracking system to monitor data and funding targets year-round
  • Communicate and be an advocate for a unified message to increase brand awareness and recognition of the Senators Community Foundation
  • Build upon current fundraising and development programming (e.g Gala, Telethon, Golf, online auctions, etc.) to continue elevating year-round donor community support
  • Research general outreach opportunities (ongoing)
  • Ensure third-party event relationships have individualized relationship management plans
  • Plan and execute events in accordance with The Foundation’s overall operating strategy
  • Provide support with volunteer recruitment, engagement and training
  • Be a positive presence in the community among individuals and corporations through participation in both internal and external events, and various community activities
  • Provide tactical expertise in fundraising events to third-party community event organizers


Requirements


  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs
  • Demonstrated success in generating new business and building external relations
  • A go-getter, team player and relationship builder
  • Proven record of establishing excellence in fundraising program development to increase charitable funding and donor loyalty
  • Proven abilities as a skilled leader, able to inspire, coach and motivate others
  • A CFRE, CFP or CMP professional designation would be a definite asset
  • Progressive leadership experience in special events and/or entertainment industry, sponsorship, marketing and fundraising
  • Excellent donor and volunteer relations skills
  • Irregular and extended hours including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Experience planning and executing large-scale fundraising events
  • Experience working with donor databases and CRM platforms
  • Bilingual would be a definite asset
  • Excellent computer skills (Microsoft 365, Asana, Excel, SharePoint, Salesforce or equivalent)
  • Experience working in the sports and entertainment industry an asset
  • Strong time management skills – able to proactively manage competing priorities
  • A proven track record of successful budget management
  • Outstanding business case analysis and development abilities with strong project management skills and a high level of attention to detail
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills, including public speaking
  • Advanced knowledge of hockey/sports an asset
