Job Description

MISSION STATEMENT

SUMMARY OF ROLE

We’re seeking an enthusiastic team player who’s passionate about making a difference for children and youth in our community. Reporting to the Senior Director of Development, and working closely with the Community Engagement team, the Fundraising & Events Assistant will play a vital role in enhancing the well-being of children and youth by supporting fundraising efforts and community engagement events and initiatives.


The successful candidate will assist in fundraising activities and donor stewardship for many of our donor programs; and contribute to the success of internal events, such as the annual Gala, golf tournament, and Trees for Tots, by coordinating event volunteers and ensuring smooth execution alongside the Community Engagement team. Furthermore, they will provide support for external third-party community fundraisers and outreach events, including volunteer coordination when necessary.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Fundraising:

  • Help in the maintenance of accurate donor records and databases, ensuring timely and accurate data entry and reporting.
  • Conduct research on potential funding opportunities, including corporate giving and grants, and assist in the development of grant proposals.
  • Collaborate with the team to develop fundraising strategies, identify donor segments, and implement targeted fundraising approaches.
  • Assist with donor stewardship efforts, including cultivating relationships and expressing gratitude to annual donors, monthly giving donors, tribute donors, and corporate donors.
  • Assist with the execution of fundraising campaigns and programs, such as annual giving campaigns, monthly giving, tribute gifts, and planned giving.


Community Engagement:

  • Coordinate event volunteers for internal events and external community fundraisers or outreach events, handling recruitment, training, tracking, stewardship, and related administrative tasks.
  • Provide administrative support to the Fundraising & Community Engagement team, such as taking meeting notes and updating presentations for meetings or speaking engagements.
  • Assist in organizing fundraising events and activities, including logistics for day-of needs at outreach and fundraising events, ensuring smooth operations.
  • Coordinate corporate volunteer program, stewarding and maintaining corporate volunteer partners.


KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Time management and multi-tasking skills to prioritize and meet deadlines effectively.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively convey the organization's mission and engage with donors, volunteers, and community members.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Knowledge in event planning and logistics management.
  • Understanding of volunteer recruitment, training, and management. Familiarity with equity, diversity, and inclusion principles and their application in volunteer management and community engagement.
  • Research skills to identify potential funding opportunities, grants, and community resources.
  • Problem-solving and adaptability to handle unexpected challenges and changes in plans.
  • Experience with using Canva, or a graphic design background is considered an asset.
  • Fundraising principles and best practices with an understanding of donor cultivation and stewardship techniques.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to interact with diverse individuals, including donors, volunteers, and community members.
  • Excellent organizational and project management abilities to coordinate fundraising initiatives and events.
  • Attention to detail for accurate data management and record-keeping.


ENVIRONMENT AND POSITION DETAILS

  • Full-time – 37.5 hours/week. Flexibility is required as this position may require evening and weekend meetings and events. May work a flexible schedule to accommodate these activities outside of our regular office hours as long as 37.5 hours are worked in a week. (For example, working on the weekend for the Children’s Foundation Gala on October 14, 2023; Trees for Tots on January 13, 2024.)
  • Salary Range: $38,900/year - $41,730/year
  • Obtain a Police Record Check/Vulnerable Sector Screening Check.
  • This position will be working primarily at the Children’s Foundation office, however there is the option for a hybrid remote/in-person work environment. This position requires occasional off-site visits for events and community outreach.
  • Flexible Start Date: as early as Monday, August 21st, but starting no later than Monday, September 11th
