Data Analyst / Engineer Jobs

Muflehun is looking for an ambitious data analyst with machine learning experience who wants to grow and develop their skills while contributing to finding innovative solutions for wicked social problems.

Responsibilities

The Data Engineer will play a crucial role in our data pipeline, extending from data collection and import to quality assurance and delivery. The ideal candidate has experience with geographic or socioeconomic data. The candidate will be key in ensuring the swift, accurate processing and updating of our data sources. They will also establish tools and procedures that enhance the efficiency of our data pipelines.

Key responsibilities include:

• Transitioning our data ingestion process from manual to API-based methods
• Integrating a growing set of data sources, ingesting, cleaning, and processing them for use in our modeling processes
• Supporting all project phases, including problem framing, data preparation (involving collection and ETL processes), and performing data analyses
• Developing data visualization dashboards to present findings effectively to stakeholders
• Applying a range of statistical, machine learning, and applied mathematical techniques to deliver insights

Requirements

• Familiarity with at least one cloud provider (GCP, AWS)
• Demonstrated ability to work well with teams and independently in a fast-paced Agile environment
• Data visualization in Tableau (preferred), Power BI or similar
• Self-motivated and able to manage daily priorities with minimal oversight and direction
• Conceptual understanding of machine learning concepts and commonly used algorithms
• Deep familiarity with databases and associated services (S3/Redshift/RDS or Google Cloud Storage/BigQuery)
• Strong ability in Python (experience with pandas, scikit, NumPy and similar common packages) and SQL
• Source control (git, Github)
• Experience with geographic data a big plus. Geospatial analysis tools (ArcGIS, QGIS),libraries (Geopandas) and formats (Shapefiles)
• Apache Airflow (gcp Cloud Composer)
• Bachelor’s degree in data science/machine learning or a quantitative discipline and 5+ years industry experience.

• Regularly providing analyses and learning to policy makers for improved macro level decisions
• Conducting research and analysis of current violent extremism challenges, identifying root problems and designing relevant solutions
• Applying learnings from research and analysis to pilot local programs

We serve as strategic advisors to federal and local government stakeholders as well as to policy makers outside USA. Our framework is utilized in many decision-making circles and our programs have been tested in several countries demonstrating their flexibility and adaptability to local needs.
