The Data Analyst is required to analyze the data requirements and bridge the gap between business and data engineering to provide consistent solutions to business problems

This competitively rewarded role will enjoy hybrid working arrangements which can be fulfilled primarily from the Vancity head office location and your Lower Mainland based home office. Periodically, in-person events or activities will be required of you.

 A typical day would involve:

• Clarify incoming data-related requests from both business units & IT application teams, to understand what they are trying to accomplish.
• Work with business units, data stewards, subject matter experts of transactional systems, and sometimes external partners to confirm if the requested data is available and reliable.
• Package together all requirements for the technical team, including everything above, plus requirements for data privacy masking, role-based security, data latency & performance, and data observability.
• Assist with validation and QA of data solutions to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Prototype cloud ETL, automation, and data visualization solutions
• Detailed data requirements gathering and documentation.
• Collaborate with data architect and data engineers on data models and data lakehouse organization and design.
• Provide education and user support for all products & solutions built on our data platform.
• Profile data sources, create logic for complex derived data, and build mappings for integrating data from multiple sources.

 You are:

• Curious & innovative: You always do your research and analysis to assess and recommend a course of action. You can identify risks and opportunities that may impact the business unit and or designated area.
• Spectacular at communications: You can speak in business language to your business unit clients and are also fully conversant with technical terms and data platform technologies. It’s effortless for you to translate back and forth between business and technical language.

 You have:

• Bachelor’s degree with Information Systems exposure (preferably major) or equivalent
• Familiarity with SQL Server, Oracle database, and MS SQL Server Reporting Services.
• Proficiency in Python and PySpark for data processing and analysis.
• Familiarity with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) and Azure Data Factory.
• Experience with Data analysis and visualization tools such as PowerBI, Tableau.
• Familiarity with MS Purview, ERWIN, and ARIS for data governance and modeling
• 3+ years of experience as Data Analyst in on-prem and cloud data warehouse implementations
• Good understanding of the day-to-day operations in a financial institution (preferably with past work experience in the banking industry)
• Thorough understanding of database, data modeling, and data warehouse
• Worked with either Agile or Waterfall methodologies.
• Extensive experience using SQL to query and transform data.
• Data analytics experience in Finance, Marketing, Product Management, Customer Service, or Operations.
• Familiarity with data governance

Salary range: $71,500- $107, 300
