Job Summary
Our Vaughan office is seeking a Contract Administrator for administering high-profile municipal servicing infrastructure construction contracts. This position will report to the Construction Management Team Lead and will require a minimum of 7-10 years’ experience in a Contract Administration and Site Inspection roles. The candidate will be responsible for assisting with preparing tender documents, documenting construction processes, reviewing and approving shop drawings, and preparing payment certificates.
Responsibilities & Qualifications
Responsibilities:
  • Prepare monthly Payment Certificates.
  • Identify and resolve construction issues.
  • Management of responses to Contractor’s RFI’s and clarification requests.
  • Coordination and liaise between Clients, Contractors, and other agencies.
  • Detailed daily report and record keeping.
  • Maintain regular communication with clients regarding project status, site issues and project quality and resolve issues as required.
  • Implement and monitor inspection procedures in accordance with professional and corporate guidelines.
  • Complete tasks accurately and efficiently with minimum supervision. Other responsibilities as assigned.
  • Review and facilitate the approval of Shop Drawings and Submittals.
  • Follow all construction safety procedures and policies including the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
  • Monitor Contract quantities and prepare Request for Quotations, Change Directives, and Change Orders as needed.
  • Be able to work extended hours as the project requires.
  • Attend and chair site meetings, take meeting notes, and prepare site meeting minute reports.
  • As a Contract Administrator your role will be to monitor and control progress of the work for projects at a senior level.
Qualifications:
  • Strong record keeping abilities
  • Experience in managing large scale municipal servicing projects with contaminated soils/water including significant dewatering requirements would be an asset
  • Strong MS office experience
  • Experience in the construction of pumping stations would be considered and asset
  • Survey knowledge using total station and GPS technology is considered an asset
  • A minimum of 7+ years of direct experience in a Contract Administration and Site Inspection role is required.
  • Ability to interpret Contract Documents and Engineering Drawings
  • Ability to effectively multi-task and work in fast paced, highly charged environment
  • MTO Class ‘G’ driver’s license in good standing and access to a personnel vehicle
  • Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent
  • Client focused, always striving to give clients the best solutions
  • Experience in working on Infrastructure Ontario projects is would be an asset
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong commitment to innovation by creating new and better ways to solve clients’ toughest challenges.
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with colleagues, associates, and clients
  • First Aid and CPR, Confined Space Entry, Working at Heights, OTM Book 7 training is considered an asset however, training will be provided
  • Creative and innovative thinker with sound technical aptitude and attention to detail
  • Registered with P.E.O. as a P.Eng. or Registered with OACETT as a CET
  • Knowledge of Canadian Contract Law including the Construction Lien Act
  • High levels of integrity, always doing the right thing in an ethical, fair, and sustainable way.

  • Demonstrated experience of collaboration in a diverse and inclusive team, working together toward technical excellence.
