High Tide is seeking a skilled and experienced Construction and Maintenance Manager to oversee and manage construction, repair, and maintenance projects for existing stores and our expansion of new retail stores. Reporting to the Director of Construction the Construction and Maintenance Manager will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising various construction and maintenance projects, ensuring they are completed safely, on time, and within budget. Also, this role requires applicants to have extensive knowledge of various construction and maintenance techniques and must have an eye for quality and attention to detail.
- Work closely with architects, engineers, and vendors to understand project requirements and ensure projects are completed on schedule and within the allocated budget.
- Ensure the quality of work adheres to industry standards and meets the client’s and company’s expectations.
- Develop and manage budgets, prepare schedules for project deadlines, and monitor expenses.
- Coordinate and oversee all construction and maintenance projects at various sites, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and meet company standards and regulations.
- Supervise and coordinate the daily work of contractors, vendors and internal staff members.
- Provide employees with the necessary tools, equipment, and materials to complete their tasks efficiently.
- Conduct regular status meetings with construction teams, communicate the project timeline and any potential issues that may arise.
- Carry out inspections of construction sites, ensuring they are healthy and safe for all workers and comply with industry codes and standards.
- Knowledge of local, provincial and federal workplace compliance regulations, ordinances and legislation considered a strong asset.
- First Aid skills and/or certificates are considered assets.
- At least 5 years of experience in construction and maintenance management.
- Demonstrated leadership experience, able to lead and guide a team.
- Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills, able to build strong relationships with contractors, employees, and clients.
- Must have excellent problem-solving skills, able to troubleshoot and develop solutions to any construction or maintenance issues that may arise in the project.
- Working knowledge of environmental safeguards and alarm systems, considered a strong asset.
- Knowledgeable in project management methodologies such as Agile, Scrum, etc.
- Strong knowledge of facilities maintenance and operation considered a strong asset
- Strong knowledge of construction materials, methods, and tools, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and carpentry.
- Must have a valid driving license.
- Flexible hours as required
- Work both indoors and outdoors
- Physical ability to lift up to 50lbs
- Will be required to travel across Canada as needed ( up to 10% or more)
- Will be exposed to construction sites
- Safety equipment will be required, e.g. steel-toed safety boots, safety glasses, etc.
