Job Description
Job Type: Full Time - Permanent

Hours: Mon-Fri, 40 hours/week

This opportunity has the flexibility to work remotely anywhere in Canada.

Perks of joining HomeStars:

  • Beautiful brick & beam office in the heart of Toronto’s entertainment district, including a rec room with lounge, ping pong, darts, and foosball
  • Home Improvement Credit: All employees receive a yearly credit to use toward a service from HomeStars
  • Personal Days: 5 extra days off per year, on top of vacation and sick days
  • All our roles are currently remote. Office equipment supplied!
  • December Closure: Our whole team takes a break in the last week of December, every year
  • Comprehensive benefits package. We want our employees to stay healthy!
  • Monthly wellness activities to support your mental and physical health

The Opportunity

  • The second aspect of the role is working closely with the Marketing, Sales, and Revenue functions to plan and execute in-person events for our customers, including our yearly highlight, the HomeStars Best Of Awards. Here our goal is to make the most of in-person opportunities to build our brand and create customer value that keeps us ahead of the competition. In both aspects of the role, our ideal candidate will be a resourceful self-starter who can build an exciting vision and lead the company on the journey to deliver it.
  • There are thousands of high-quality home service professionals in Canada, and millions of homeowners in need of a range of services from small maintenance tasks to home additions and more. Our mission is to connect these two audiences, giving homeowners the resources they need to plan and execute their vision, and giving service providers the tools and incremental revenue opportunities to make their businesses thrive. We are looking for a passionate Community Manager to join our team and lead our strategy to build stronger connections within our service pro community and help cement HomeStars as their #1 partner of choice.
  • In the role of Community Manager, your mission will be split into two core areas. The first is building and executing exciting audience engagement plans via our Social Media channels for our homeowner and home service pro audiences. Posts, reels & videos that showcase how we add value to our partners? We need those. Creative B2B campaign ideas that show new audiences that we are a great fit for their business? We need plenty of those too.

Your typical day at HomeStars:

  • Conduct insight projects such as customer satisfaction trackers to ensure we are on the right path.
  • Manage and deliver the yearly HomeStars Best of Awards events in a roadshow format across 3-5 major cities in Canada.
  • Create a community & customer engagement strategy that hits internal goals and excites both our existing & prospective new service professional customers.
  • Think fewer stock images of models in hardhats and more about the real side of working life as a service professional.
  • Social media engagement:
  • Execute the plan creatively, via a combination of social media initiatives and live events with collaboration from our sales, marketing, and revenue teams.
  • Event planning and management:
  • Work with the marketing and design teams to define a new ‘style’ for our social comms that shows we understand and speak the language of our users.
  • Lead HomeStars in planning and implementing customer-focused events such as live ‘demo days’ to engage prospective customers

Must-have qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of experience in community management, social media management, or a comparable field that demonstrates similar attributes
  • A passion for communicating with audiences and building community End to-end event management experience - from selecting vendors to managing event budgets and schedules
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, technical, and mission-focused environment
  • Adaptable to a fast-paced environment where speed of execution is paramount Highly organized and detail-oriented
  • Entrepreneurial mindset and goal-oriented (self-directed, proactive, and able to define and execute projects independently)
  • Ability to build strong relationships cross-functionally as well as collaborate with outside agencies and vendors
