Job Summary


The Fountain School of Performing Arts is the only university performing arts school east of Montreal and brings a range of new opportunities to students of Music, Theatre, and Cinema and Media Studies. Reporting to the Administrative Officer, Finance and Personnel, the Communications and Administrative Assistant position will promote and contribute to Fountain School’s internal and external communication practices, recruitment, and outreach activities by providing creative input and oversight for all communication tasks and projects, while also assisting the Director and administrative team with administrative tasks.


Key Responsibilities


  • Create and coordinate the production of publicity materials for productions, recruitment and outreach including season brochure, posters, programs, public service announcements, press releases, website information, etc. to meet deadlines.
  • Engage social media audiences (i.e. Twitter, Facebook, Instagram), keeping up with feeds and ensuring that we are actively involved in supporting the arts community.
  • Work closely with the Director, Assoc. Director Productions, Recruitment and Outreach Committee and administrative team to manage publicity and coordination of school activities and events, including production and distribution of annual season brochure, event poster, production advertising, social media communications, School website, and other promotional materials.
  • Coordinate the Fountain School’s online presence by updating, revising, and developing its website and social media content.
  • Provide administrative support to, and attend meetings of the School, Executive Committee, and other meetings including scheduling, preparation of agendas, minutes, etc.
  • Provide administrative support to the Director of the Fountain School of Performing Arts, including composing and sending emails, donation thank you letters, etc.


Note


The successful applicant will be eligible for hybrid work (combination of in-person work on campus and remote work) as agreed by all parties based on operational requirements and university guidelines.

Required Qualifications


  • Experience with social media content creation to support business/organizational objectives.
  • Skilled in computer applications such as Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Undergraduate degree in English, Theatre or Music, Professional Writing, Public Relations/Marketing, or other relevant discipline, with two years experience in a writing or communications role (or equivalent combination of training and experience).
  • Ability to work successfully within a team or independently, with minimal supervision while prioritizing workload including multiple concurrent demands.
  • Ability to write concisely and clearly, using inclusive, respectful language in all communication.
