- Previous experience in ophthalmology an asset.
- Minimum three (3) years of recent experience required in Acute or Long Term Care.
- Charge nurse experience required.
- Leadership experience preferred.
- Graduate of an approved Registered Nursing program required.
- Bachelor of Nursing preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- A recognized course in Healthcare Management is an asset.
- Current CPR training at the ACLS level is required.
- Responsible for maintaining and providing proof of active registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (CRNM).
- Active participation in professional associations e.g. Association of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (ARNM) preferred.
- Scope of practice as documented in the Regulated Health Professions Act (RHPA).
- Regional/Facility/Unit policies, procedures, protocols and guidelines.
- Personal Health Information Act (PHIA), Protection of Persons in Care Act, Mental Health Act.
- Ability to adapt quickly to changing situations.
- Ability to delegate care appropriately and monitor outcomes of delegated care.
- Ability to perform independently and as a member of the healthcare team.
- Principles of delegation.
- Ability to implement change.
- Knowledge of:
- Ability to prioritize care for an individual patient or a group of patients.
- Ability to respond to a variety of simultaneous demands.
- Demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to maintain concentration with frequent interruptions.
- Workplace Hazardous Material Information System (WHMIS), Principles of Routine Practices.
- College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba Standards of Practice for Registered Nurse.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word.
- Demonstrates effective organizational, interpersonal, critical thinking/problem-solving and decisionmaking.
- Roles and responsibilities of members of the healthcare team.
- Nursing care knowledge related to clinical area.
- Canadian Nurses Association Code of Ethics for Registered Nurses.
- (Universal Precautions) and other legislated acts.
- Ability to function in a demanding and stressful environment.
- Good physical and mental health.
