About You
You love accounting and chose this profession not because of the number-crunching (though numbers are your first language), but because you love identifying and, more importantly, solving problems. You are empathetic to clients and can easily put yourself in their shoes – treating their business and finances with care. Whatever solution you offer, you have the client’s best interests in mind. You realize that accounting clients like to discuss financial and accounting solutions in plain English terms, so you save the accounting code words and acronyms for your fellow teammates instead.
You think variety is the spice of life and would love the opportunity to take ownership of any given client’s file and see it to its completion. Multitasking, making deadlines and keeping within budgets are part of your DNA.
Travelling is in your blood during non-global pandemic times. Sure, it’s nice to admire beautifully laid out financial statements on your three monitors back at the RHN office, but you also like being at the client’s office. Whether it’s a quick trip to a downtown office building, or a four or five-day excursion with teammates to a remote town in BC, you see each opportunity to travel as an adventure.

What Might Be On Your Resume

• Completion of a 3-year accounting program at a recognized Canadian post-secondary institution
• Any previous accounting work experience, especially in public practice including co-ops, to demonstrate your maturity and work ethics is an asset
• Whether in an academic or professional setting, experience with CaseWare/CaseView, Taxprep, Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)

Things You Might Do at RHN
RHN’s scope of service and client base are wide and diverse and RHN team members can diversify their experiences and skill sets. Team members will be assigned a variety of engagements available at their level, including T1 and T2 tax returns, NTR, Review and Audit engagements.

• Actively participate in ongoing professional development by asking questions daily, participating in firm-wide learnings sessions, and being open-minded to constant learning and improving
• Able to meet internal / external deadlines, while staying within allotted time budget
• Complete, independently or in a team, engagements assigned to you using your accounting knowledge and knack for understanding clients’ pain points within their industry or sector
• Engross yourself in RHN’s values and leadership philosophy, and guide your everyday interaction with staff and client with these guiding principles
