Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centred clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.

Position Overview

Working as a member of the Health Records Team the incumbent is responsible but not limited to assembling inpatient discharges & daycares, assigning deficiencies, providing, maintaining and processing health records. Utilizes computer systems to obtain information necessary to retrieve/file reports and heath records.

Experience

• One (1) year experience in a hospital Health Records Department required within the last two years OR
• One (1) year medical office experience required within the last two years
• Terminal Digit (TD) filing required
• Experience working with both electronic and paper health records preferred

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

• Successful completion of a recognized Medical/Surgical Office Assistant or Health Information Management program preferred
• Complete high school education, Manitoba standards, required
• A combination of education and experience may be considered

Special Training

• Terminal Digital (TD) filing required
• Operational knowledge of computer terminals required
• Medical terminology required (pass mark 75%)
• Typing/keyboarding skills (minimum 30 wpm)

• Frequent interruptions
• Work environment consists of high noise level
• No natural light
• Rolling/sliding heavy lateral mobile shelving units
• Prolonged physical activities include: walking, standing, sitting, climbing stairs, using a stepstool, bending, lifting, and loading/unloading storage boxes/buckets weighing up to 30 lbs
• May entail working alone
