Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centred clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.

Position Overview

Under the general direction of the Adult Partial Hospitalization management team, the incumbent is responsible for: Caseload management for outpatients and day hospital patients. Assessment and treatment of patients who are in crisis or have personality disorders. Leading or co-leading psycho-educational and psychotherapy groups. Participation in educational activities. Ongoing quality monitoring.

Experience

• Minimum 5 years experience providing individual and group therapies in a mental health setting.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

• Occupational Therapy - Baccalaureate or Clinical Masters Degree in Occupational Therapy.
• Professional qualifications with a degree in one of the following disciplines is required: Social Work - Masters in Social Work (MSW) from Canadian Association of Schools of Social Work (CASSW) accredited school/facility of social work.

Certification/Licensure/Registration

• For Occupational Therapists, registration is required with the College of Occupational Therapists of Manitoba (COTM) with the incumbent’s name entered in the practicing register or in the provisional register as an examination candidate. Where the incumbent is provisionally registered as an examination candidate, he/she must pass the examination required by COTM during the next available exam offering to maintain employment with the Centre.
• Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) training requirements for this position shall be in accordance with the applicable policy.
• Certification in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention required.
• Current registration or eligibility for registration with the applicable discipline specific licensing body is required.

Qualifications And Skills

• Excellent interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to provide patient assessments in a recognized psychiatric format including: responding, in writing, to consults and referrals from general practitioners and psychiatrists. Demonstrated knowledge of the biological and psychosocial factors related to mental health and illness.
• Demonstrated ability to develop an appropriate treatment plan in collaboration with the physician and team which may include therapy, medication, inpatient admission or referral to appropriate resources.
• Ability to function independently in a day hospital setting as part of an interdisciplinary team.
• Extensive knowledge of social systems and networks.

Physical Requirements

• Good physical and mental health required.
