Position Title: Category Advisor
Location: Brampton, ON
Reports to: Sr. Manager, Category Management
Position Overview
This individual will be responsible for taking a lead role in supporting the Category Management efforts for a major category or categories within Newell Brands. The Category Advisor will work closely with the Category Manager at Walmart on key initiatives, planning cycles, line reviews, etc. to develop and grow total category sales.
Key Responsibilities

• Own the Category Management relationship with buyer and act as a trusted category advisor.
• Ensure the fundamentals of Category Management and industry best practices are present in analysis and recommendations.
• Develop presentations and present to Walmart buyer and key stakeholders (e.g. business reviews, line reviews, product/segment deep dives, shopper insights, etc.)
• Apply knowledge of category sales strategies toward supply chain maintenance and improvements will be expected. This includes item forecasting, pack size assessment, planning for promotional sales volatility and the ability to work with replenishment systems.
• Lead the line review process, make recommendations on category space allocations and develop MODs using space planning software.
• Generate weekly reporting and provide insights, identify opportunities and deliver solutions that drive profitable category growth.
• Direct and perform analysis across a wide variety of retail business development issues and make fact based recommendations.
• Become category Subject Matter Expert and facilitate the development and deployment of industry Best Practices.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated knowledge of Category Management philosophies, tools and processes and proven record of success.
• Advanced analytical skills and computer software proficiency (e.g. Excel, Access, PowerPoint, SharePoint, etc.).
• Strategic thinking, self-starter with ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with aggressive deadlines.
• Familiarity with space management software (e.g. JDA, Prospace, Spaceman, etc.).
• Strong familiarity with syndicated data, measures and software (e.g. IRI, Nielsen, Feature Vision, Spectra, etc.).
• Experience as Category Captain on major National retailer, Walmart preferred.
• Prior experience analyzing retailer data and presenting key finding and recommendations to senior level executives.
• Proven ability to analyze and identify insights from a combination of data sources.
• 5-7 years of experience working with a leading CPG company (Category Management, Shopper Insights or related position).
• Bachelor’s degree (emphasis in business/marketing or related field)
• Strong project management, follow-up, organizational, communication, and presentation skills.
